2 Peter 1:20-21 say's, " 20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's (MAN) own interpretation. 21For prophecy never had its origin in the will of MAN, but men spoke from GOD as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Now ask yourself, how isn't the Bible not God's word?

The Bible is God's word.

Easy, it is still man writing it. "Inspired" does NOT mean Dictated....... And, even Jesus says the "Scribes are liars... the pen of the scribes lie" The Bible itself says "ALL men are liars"... it doesn't add "well, except the writers of the Bible". ALL men are liars... which means all men make mistakes... and when writing, all men will place their own bias into the writings, even if they fully believe it is inspired by their God.

Prophecy is one thing.... the Bible is NOT prophecy... it has some prophecies within it, but it isn't a Prophecy itself... so your verse isn't about whether or not the Bible is the "Word of God" it's about whether or not Prophecies are delivered according to the interpretation of man. Prophecies are Spoken first and foremost *your verses even says that "but men SPOKE from God"* When it talks about God's word, it says "man can't live by bread alone, but by every word WHICH PROCEEDS FROM HIS MOUTH" Not every word which you read in a book.

Another point to be made.... Prove that the people whom they claim wrote it, actually did write it. Most of the scholars out there can't even give you the author's name... they claim it's just easier to assign a name to the book. Isaiah did not write Isaiah... someone else who came after him did. It's Jewish Tradition that says Moses wrote the 1st 5 books of the Bible... yet there's no proof he actually did. Read the Gospel of Matthew - you will find it is in the 3rd person..... if Matthew is writing as an eyewitness, he would not be writing about himself in the 3rd person. He would write in the 1st person - that's how people gain (and lose) credibility... if he really wanted to be believed, he would have written in the 1st person.

Every "holy writ" I have EVER seen claims it is directly from God(s). I have yet to see anything written by man, about religion/God/etc, that says "this is actually wrong... you shouldn't listen to everything that is written here... some may be from God, but since man screws up all the time, the message is probably lost somewhere in time, after being copied thousands of times, translated thousands more and changed to fit Kings, Priests and common people alike"

Well, that one is easy. The Bible saying that the Bible is God's word is not in the least credible! Suppose I say that I am speaking for God. Does that make it true? Come on, how gullible do you think people are to accept THAT argument.

The bigger problem I have is that if you look at the ancient texts, and the current English ones, there are some DEFINITE discrepancies. Man had to change the meaning somewhere, and quite frankly, I can't believe that God changed his mind, only that Man has made a mistake somewhere.

Jesus never intended for a New Testament to be written. He himself didn't write anything down (as far as we know).

Nor did he say anything about a New Testament to be written at a later time.

Nor is there any indication that Paul thought his letters were going to be bundled up and declared official church "doctrine".

In fact, when Jesus ascended he said he was going to send a helper, - the HOLY SPIRIT - not another written law. This makes sense because his teachings, as well as Paul's clearly advocated living according to the SPIRIT and not according to some written law.

Common sense tells us that the New Testament, and the Old for that matter are just religious writings by religious leaders of the times. They are a mixture of fact and fable, myth and history, and they contain valueable teaching and wisdom.

BUT, trouble ensues when they are declared divinely inspired and infallible. This results in a legalistic, dogmatic "church", which quite frankly, turns the teachings of Jesus on their head - it's exactly what he was preaching AGAINST!

The Bible can't be God's word because there are so many mistakes. How did Noah gather 2 Polar Bears for the Arc when he didn't know that they existed? Adam & Eve? When people of the same family have children, the offspring are always born with genetic abnormalities including sterility. It could only be the word of God if God was unlearned.

God has never spoken through any man, and he certainly never lent his hand to any book, all that was ever done or said in biblical times came from the mouths of man, there never was and there never will be a Gods word, God simply creates life he dose not control it, and as a catholic I would bet my life on it, and have done so for many years now, and I still pray to God we have a great relationship.

dear mr.,
Whole of the bible what we have now , is not from God. But some part of it have word of God while the rest is corrupted by ideologies of human beings added.
So the bible what we have now is corrupted and not in its purest form. The purest form is called "Injeel" that is revealed to Prophet Eesa (peace be upon him) or Jesus in your terms, who is messenger of God not sone of God nor God by himself.

According to the same book that you quote, jesus stated that god is unseen & does not speak to any human. How could people have written "god's word" when god does not speak to man?

And even if the bible was originally "god's word".... Who was there to say "that's not what god said! you're just writing it how you want to write it!"

Your logic is seriously flawed. You cannot provethat the Bible is God's word by using the Bible as your only proof, that doesn't make sense. I think that we all need to accept that this is something that we cannot (at least at this time) prove, and agree to disagree.

What reason could you have for thinking God spoke through the authors of the Bible? Oh, it's something IN the Bible, that the author's themselves WROTE? Guess I'm convinced...

5 Wizbangs 2:1 says "That you base your beliefs on any text is your belief to have, but do not expect that your irrationality should be conveyed upon others." Why is this not God's word?
