in a frying pan, heat enough oil to cover the base of the pan on medium heat. then dip your bread in the batter, and then fry about 1-2 minutes each side until it browns.

Whip 2 eggs together then add a shake of salt, a little vanilla and a teaspoon or so of sugar and stir well. Add some cinnamon. Add some milk to make a nice batter. Melt some oleo in a non stick skillet and brown on both sides. Sorry I do not have exact measurements, but that's what I do. Store leftover batter and frig and eat again the next day.

I saw that you have lots of nice recipes from other answerers. Here's a simple one. French toast for one. Beat 1 egg with a little milk in a pie pan or any other flat container. Dip 2 slices of bread 1 at a time, coat evenly. Brown on both sides in a med. hot skillet lightly oiled. Enjoy

Easy French Toast

Six slices of any bread you prefer, preferably a little stale-if not, let it sit out while you prepare everything else to dry it out a bit...the drier it is, the more of the egg mixture it will absorb.

2 eggs, beaten, add 1/4 cup milk or half and half

add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamoon and mix (if using wheat bread, a tablespoon of honey adds a nice flavor)

Dip bread into egg mixture to coat well

Fry in skillet w/about a tablespoon of melted butter/margarine until browned flip and brown the other side.

Panettone French Toast Recipe

Cinnamon Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
French Toast:
1 (1.1 pound; 500 gram) loaf panettone bread, baking paper removed
6 large eggs
3/4 cup whipping cream
3/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
Powdered sugar, for dusting

To make the syrup: Combine 1 cup of water and brown sugar in a heavy medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Boil until the syrup reduces to 1 cup, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and whisk in the cream and cinnamon. Keep the syrup warm. (The syrup can be made 1 day ahead. Cool, then cover and refrigerate. Rewarm before serving.)
Meanwhile, prepare the French toast: Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Trim the bottom crust of the panettone. Starting at the bottom end of the panettone, cut it crosswise into 6 (3/4-inch thick) round slices (reserve the top piece for toast!). In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until well blended. Add the cream, milk, and sugar and whisk until well mixed. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter on a large nonstick griddle over medium heat. Dip 3 slices of panettone into the custard, turning to allow both sides to absorb the custard. Grill the soaked panettone slices until they are golden brown and firm to the touch, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer the French toast to a baking sheet and keep them warm in the oven. Repeat with the remaining butter, panettone slices, and custard.

Transfer the French toast to plates. Dollop the mascarpone atop each. Lightly dust with the powdered sugar. Drizzle the cinnamon syrup over and around the French toast and serve immediately.

Put eggs in bowl. Add a little water (not much). Blend.

Heat frying pan to med-low.

Dip bread in eggs, both sides. Cook in pan until no longer soggy (but don't let it get too dry).

Serve with syrup. For an extra treat, cut off the crust first, use raisin bread, top lightly with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

I make it all the time for myself. If you want to have fun, buy those frozen waffles. Dip in a mixture of eggs and milk and a splash of vanilla extract and ground cinnamon Let it soak. Cook on a buttered surface. I used to make this for many years for a corporate account. Everyone raved.
