You said " I have done the walk and I have done the saved thing at different times." That really sounds like me, so I can relate. (I was born and raised Catholic.)

The first thing I notice is that you are really trying. But understand that we can never "get right with God". We must surrender totally to Him. We can only be justified by Grace, through Faith.

There is nothing you can do to earn Heaven or become a holier person. You must submit to God and let Him perform the surgery so to speak.

There is no magic formula to accepting Jesus. Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? That He came down from Heaven, suffered, died on the cross and rose from the dead? If you believe, and you simply ask him into your heart, He will reside there. No special words needed. Just ask him in your own words.

As far as not believing you are saved; do you believe God's Word? He said if you "Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall be saved." Don't depend upon feelings or emotion. Depend upon God's Word.

God will definitely aid you to flee from sin. It won't be easy but he will give you the Grace. I would suggest that you seek out a church and Pastor that faithfully preach the Bible and administer that Sacraments.

As far as the depression and cutting yourself; it sounds as if there are some issues at play that are of a medical (perhaps psychological) nature. I would strongly urge you to seek out a mental health specialist so that you can get some help. Please, please do this as soon as possible.

If you would like to correspond further, feel free to email me.

God bless you.

Becoming a Christian doesn't mean that all your desire to sin goes away, it means that you've acknowledged sin for what it is and you seek to align yourself with the will of the Creator of the moral law. One day all corruption will be swept away, and that includes the stain on our own hearts. In the meantime there is a war to be fought and you cannot expect total peace while living in enemy territory, though you may win many skirmishes with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Your assurance of salvation is not so much about how pure you are, but how you feel about purity. If you mourn your spiritual bankruptcy, if you hunger and thirst for righteousness, if you know that only Christ's righteousness can save you, then you are one after God's heart. From there you may be at peace in the knowledge that your adopted Father knows your struggles and has mercy on you. He is willing to work with you to heal you and give you a role in His kingdom.

Be at peace that you are not alone in your struggles. Chip away at your sin as a sculptor does the outer stone of his masterpiece. Learn to dispise sin as your Father does. Increase your joy in understanding the magnitude of grace and forgiveness -- "where sin abounds, grace abounds more abundantly!" There is nothing that cannot be forgiven if we only will.

Well, once you become saved the devil is going to tempt you.
Because he knows now that you're given yourself to God and he's going to try everything he can to get you to stray.

You just have to be strong. There isn't anything you're doing wrong.

Sounds like you may have some pinned up anger, and there are lots of ways to get rid of it. Maybe try talking someone close to you about what you're feeling. Or write it down. Get a good night's sleep. It that doesn't help........try getting on your knees and praying. Talk to God about what you're feeling...nothing wrong with that. It'll make all the difference in the world-I know it does for me.

Keep your head up! God will work it out!

I feel for you, having come through several periods of depression (though not severe) since 1992. But please, rest assured that salvation depends only on believing what the Bible says about Jesus, the full claims: it does not depend on keeping Laws (impossible, as Jesus Himself proved by saying "Ye must be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect"). It therefore follows that righteousness, as defined by God, means perfection; this only comes from the imputation (the giving to us) of righteousness, available to mankind only through the sinless life and substitutionary death of Jesus in our place. Once we believe that
1) Jesus is the only-begotten Son of God (the "only-begotten" refers to Jesus' conception in the womb of the virgin Mary, NOT to a time when Jesus never existed):
2) Jesus is God the Son, the second Person of the Triune Godhead: and
3) that Jesus will take our sin from us when we ask Him to, and follow through on it, making Him our Lord and Saviour, we are saved. Completely. Permanently. Eternally.
Salvation does not depend on "feeling " saved, and neither does it depend on following a ritual use of words, water, or praying in a certain way. It depends on the power and trustworthiness of God. If you have already trusted Jesus to have accomplished the things written above, then welcome to an eternity of being with the Lord, who assures us "I am with you alway [meaning 'all the way'], even unto the end of the world." (Matt28:20, KJV). This means we can take our troubles to Him, who is called Counsellor. Take your depression to Him in prayer, ask Him to help you with it; and if you're not already in one, find a church where the people will not only pray for you, but will give you practical help too.
May God bless you and guide you into all righteousness.

Go through Hell here on this site. At the end it will tell you how to be saved.

Quit being so hard on yourself. Don't let Satan do that to you. God gave you control, use it. If you find yourself in a pit so deep you can't get out, remember, God has a long arm.

part of life is realising you can't be perfect and sinful things can be ok sometimes. (Sometimes) Don't get so caught up man! Continue your religion if you favor it and don't be so uptight. If god supposedly loves you as much as people say, it will take a lot for him to hate you!
