say that someday soon there is a mass sighting wherein like one million people all see the same UFO/spacecraft and the government comes out and says they knew all along...how would your religion respond? would it adapt itself? would it collapse? would it fall into disorder and chaos?

i'm very serious and genuinely want to know: what do you think would happen? would it even matter?

I'm an atheist, but I don't see any reason for a religion to die off due to alien existence. These religions have evolved over time to adapt to various situations and popular culture. In the past, some religions proclaimed a flat earth and were upset when proven wrong. They changed and now say the flat earth references were "misinterpretations."
The aliens would have some effect on some religions. But I doubt any fact of reality would destroy them.

Well as an atheist I would be happy I guess. (I know you asked for religion but figured you would want all points of view)

To know we are not the only living people in the universe...that is extreamly big would please me. And the fact I already think aliens exist would then be proven.

people will panic. The government probably know they could never be able to control people unless they can prove "aliens" were harmless. As for religion, people may stop beliving in God claiming that aliens were fake. I would personally find it interesting and it wouldn't bother my religion.

I'm sure that a new religion would emerge that would worship the new beings.

Greater technology/knowledge + things they don't understand = they must be gods!

Such an event would not undermine Christianity...After all, God, through His Son, created the universe...we don't know all that is out there....but we do know it is all subject to Him

Christians would say that the aliens were "green agents of Satan".

People, you know it's true.

Christianity could not stand on other intelligent life being "out there". How's Jesus fit into that equation?
