Actually, the seven deadly sins are listed in the bible and so are the seven Virtues. Unfortunately, I don't have my bible with as I'm at work. Therefore I can't tell you exactly where they're listed nor what the Virtues are but I think some of them are
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Pride Humility
Brief description :
Seeing ourselves as we are and not comparing ourselves to others is humility. Pride and vanity are competitive. If someone else's pride really bothers you, you have a lot of pride.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Greed Generosity
Brief description :
This is about more than money. Generosity means letting others get the credit or praise. It is giving without having expectations of the other person. Greed wants to get its "fair share" or a bit more.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Envy Love
Brief description :
"Love is patient, love is kind…" Love actively seeks the good of others for their sake. Envy resents the good others receive or even might receive. Envy is almost indistinguishable from pride at times.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Wrath/Anger Kindness
Brief description :
Kindness means taking the tender approach, with patience and compassion. Anger is often our first reaction to the problems of others. Impatience with the faults of others is related to this.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Lust Self control
Brief description :
Self control and self mastery prevent pleasure from killing the soul by suffocation. Legitimate pleasures are controlled in the same way an athlete's muscles are: for maximum efficiency without damage. Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they tend to go out of control.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Gluttony Temperance
Brief description :
Temperance accepts the natural limits of pleasures and preserves this natural balance. This does not pertain only to food, but to entertainment and other legitimate goods, and even the company of others.
Sin Virtue (Its opposite)
Sloth Zeal
Brief description :
Zeal is the energetic response of the heart to God's commands. The other sins work together to deaden the spiritual senses so we first become slow to respond to God and then drift completely into the sleep of complacency.

I don't think the bible refers to that list either. Although in the bible God does states six things that man does that he hates the most. and of course pride is at the top of that list. There are any number of good virtues that can HELP you get into heaven. But they are in no way a guarantee. The only guaranteed way is belief in Christ and his forgiveness of sin. for the wages of sin is death but he can waive that verdict. You should retain him as your lawyer. Why not His father is the judge. Talk about being connected!! What say you.

The original seven deadly sins you list and the seven virtues come from Pope Gregory in the 6th century, not the bible.
The virtues are: Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Justice, Prudence, and Temperance.

The bible does not really mention the dealy sins nor thier corrisonding virtues, but each sin has a corriwsonding virtue.
Valour — Pursuit of Courage and Knowledge (sloth)
Generosity — Pursuit of Giving (opp. of greed)
Liberality — Pursuit of Will (lust)
Diligence — Pursuit of Ethics (gluttony)
Patience — Pursuit of Peace (opp. or wrath)
Kindness — Pursuit of Charity (opp. of envy)
Humility — Pursuit of Modesty (opp. of pride)
The sins come from what is said in the bible, that god does not like
A proud look,
a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord amoung brethren
There are also a list of the hevenly virtues: prudence, temperance, fortitude, and justice, of faith, hope, and charity.

I don't know the Seven Virtues off the top of my head.
Chastity, Charity I know for certain. Obedience, Love, Hard work, I think are among them. For each sin, there is a virtue that is it's opposit.

There are no virtues. Hmm no the sins are written out like that but "thy shalt not commit adultery" is lust... read between the lines.
It is impossible NOT to commit some of that sins, I bet priests have broken a good few in their time... loads of priests drink alcohol... gluttony...

While I agree all those are "sins", the seven deadly sins aren't to be found listed out like that in the bible. It was an early tradition of the catholic church (who is really good at adding doctrines not found in the bible!)

HI
These are sins in the bible but it tells yo can be forgiven if you stop practicing them, they are deadly but not unforgivable, try a home bible study with A Jehovah's Witness since you are so concerned they helped me a lot.
