I think this is something that will only come with time. More thank likely you've been through something where you're true friends are worried about you and just want to make sure you're doing ok. They don't mean any harm, they are just concerned. Once they see you are fine and are moving on with your life they will stop asking. Now I'm not saying there aren't a few lazy ones that do want to live with you so you can pick up their slack. All you can do with either one of these type people is just continue to tell them no. They will get the picture after a while. Good luck :)

Stick to your guns young man !!!! Years ago I seen a way to get extra cash by sharing my little tiny rented house. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. We hardly seen each other because I worked at the police station days and was a car hop at night. I had beautiful furniture and she or her whoever left cigarette burns on it. The bathroom was never like I would leave it. I could tell you more.My time doesn't allow it.
Just as long as you can afford it, keep your privacy. It is so nice to come home to your own mess.
Don't even take in someone for the night,it just may be the foothold they want. I have seen to much on this yahoo site about people with unwanted guests & how do you get rid of them ? PLEASE don't let that become your problem~~Jill

Roomates no matter who they are at hard. Living with people takes work so if you can live on your own I suggest that you continue to do that. Everyone is different so everyone lives differently if you want to live in peace live alone. But I think you already know that since you are so reluctant to let people move in with you.
You could just tell them flat out that you prefer to live alone. If they dont understand that then they arent really friends.

NO, should be answer enough.
Turn the bedroom into a office, closet library anything and tell them you do not have space.
Roomates (somegood somebad) depends on the person.
I had girls live with me and one paid their bill all the time the other was gone all the time so she thought she didn't have to pay bills but she was taking up space so she still had to pay, and wound up keeping her stuff cause she just left one day never paid.

You are 24 years old. I am a little surprized that your presence as a grown man isn't sufficient on this matter, but here's the deal, just tell them that you have become, after so many years, set in your ways and don't feel you would be a good roommate for them. :)
Another option would be to let them know that your landlord's aren't so keen on rewriting the terms of the lease agreement, which some aren't.

Just let them know...
You dont owe them anything and they shouldnt pressure you just because of their selfish needs.
I luckily have my sis as a roomate and we get along just fine.
Good luck with your friend situation
Also congrats on the whole 24/M/No Kids/Has a job/Pays bills and still living it up situation you have working for you. Very rare for a man to have your "qualifications"

roomates are tough. i like my peace and privacy too. I think you should just explain to them that you arent really looking for a roommate. Some people might give you the guilt trip... I have come nto that situation before... just tell them you are sorry but youd rather just live by yourself but they are welcome any time.

If you can afford to pay all your bills on your own then i would not get any roommates.I let people move into my home and oh my goodness they were pigs they smoked and drank and left everything flying around.I would never ever do that again. If you don't mind living alone and you love your privacy then keep it that way. Otherwise you might really regret it fast.

Just tell them that you do not want roomates period and not to ask you again. If they feel like you are being rude or mean then that is their problem, not yours. If they bring it up again then they do not respect you or your feelings and you should just leave them alone.

Tell them, that you enjoy your privacy and it's nothing personal but when you get home, you want to have private time to do what you like, and you run a complicated system that you doubt people will like following. I'm sure that will let them know,if they persist repeat your self slowly and even spell it out. Good luck!
