how much and what kind of manpower and material would be needed if someone was to build 2 bridges from seattle, wash to juneau, ak and from either los angeles or san diego, calif to hilo, hi. and how long would it take (weather permitting)? and what kind of bridges should they be?

this isnt for a class or anything imporant, im just curious

can't really be done. once off the continental shelf, the ocean is too deep for piers to support the deck and have sufficient rigidity to withstand wave action. A floating bridge won't work either, as wind and waves pushing for miles on end would create too much of a tug on the end moorings to hold.

Any bridge in the Alaska inner passage would have to be built to withstand buffeting by icebergs. Boats and planes do a better job. The route to Hawaii is so long it would be like driving from New York to LA. you would need hotels, gas stations, restaurants and such all along the way. AAA would not pay the tow to get you back to shore.

lare is right on. Can't be done with existing engineering resouces available today.
