Just because I am a non-christian doesn't mean I don't believe in God. I just don't want some guy telling me how to live my life from a book that who knows wrote it and then that same guy goes and molests little boys in the confessional booth. Enough ranting, thought so.

Do you believe every book you read? I was reading a Dr. Seuss book to my kids the other day. I don't expect them to believe it is true but they enjoy it. The bible is no different than a run-of-the-mill Dr. Seuss book. It tells a story with some heroes and some villains...and in the end, the good guy wins.
I don't believe in god because I believe god only exists in the bible. He doesn't take action in our lives. He allows death, disease and murder all over the world. In addition, I believe if there was one supreme being, everyone in the world would believe in him. Such is not the case. People believe in many gods. Which one is right? Are they all right? Are they all wrong? We will never know. At this point in my life, atheism is the best choice for me. It may not be for you and that's fine. I'm not going to force my beliefs on you. You can believe whatever you want to believe. Just leave me out of it...peace.

As a "non-christian" I certainly DO believe in a higher power (supreme being, creator, God, etc.). As a biologist, I try to think logically about life, and it only make sense to me that the universe must have been created. But I would never believe the creation stories in Genesis. Evolution is a proven fact and I'm content knowing that life today is the result of billions of years of continuous change. I do acknowledge the Bible as a history book though. I'm sure that a large percentage of the gospels is true. But I'm not going to particpate in this religious contest of who is right and who is wrong. Do you honestly believe that your omnibenevolent God would punish someone for such silly reasons? If there is an afterlife.....I will see you all there, and if not, our bodies will still decompose in the ground and time will go on.

Several reasons.

1. I was once a Christian, truthfully seeking word from God, didn't hear anything after 28 years of striving.

2. There is no evidence for the existence of God that goes beyond personal testimony. That indicates that God is an emotional belief. Most testimonies, start with. I felt his presence, or I saw a vision, or after my Mum died I had a dream, or I was in a meeting and God spoke to me personally. Almost every testimony, is personal in nature and doesn't involve any tangible evidence. The same can be said about true love, Vishnu, luck and Leprechauns.

3. If the Bible is true and God is all knowing and created mankind, knowing that millions and millions and millions and millions of them would spend eternity in torture and pain, I don't want to 'get to know' this deity anyway.

I am a Muslim and OFCOURSE all Muslims believe in the Bible and GOD.

Almighty GOD is ONE, call HIM by any name. But it should be a Beautiful one WITHOUT any Mental picture.

What we say that there is ONE GOD means HE is the same GOD for Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Athiests, Buddhists and all mankind.

Because GOD is ONE and for all mankind.

Therefore, if you say ALLAH, ELI, ELIAH, BRAHMA, all refer to GOD. We can best understand this from the Hindu Scripture example.

Hindus say GOD is Brahma. Which if translated into English means 'The Creator' and if translated into Arabic means 'Khaliq'

Therefore if you call Almighty GOD as 'The Creator' OR 'Khaliq' OR 'Brahma' it is ONE and the SAME.

BUT...

The trouble arises when the Hindus ascribe features to GOD that are NOT worthy for GOD. For example, they say Brahma is the GOD who has 10 heads, so and so hands, etc...

And this goes against the fundamentals of Islam, Judaism and Christianity (As per the Gospel of Barnabas) and even True Hinduism itself (Vedas are against this)...

Therefore, All religions speak about Monotheism BUT the True essence of Monotheism has now remained in Islam only as...

1. The Church has fabricated the Trinity and mis-lead the Chirstians from the True message of Jesus Christ (Peace Be Upon Him)

2. The Hindus do NOT read the Vedas and practice Idol worship which is against their own scriptures.

So being a Muslim means worshipping Almighty GOD as HE commanded us to.

Probably for the same reason that you do not make a sacrifice to Zeus in the temple, or worship the Gods and Goddesses in the Sacred Grove. Why don't you believe in all of the writings of all of the religions all over the world? Have you read Homer? How about Virgil? (For the educated set, I KNOW the difference!)

The bible is a collection of memories from many different people put together in a form by the church for the purpose of making their beliefs valid.

It is a book without cross references for the material contained within so there is no proof of it's absolute truth. It is something one has to take on faith and I choose not to do so.

Deities.. well they may exist, and then again they may not. Proof is lacking for either argument. So, I put my faith in my fellow human being where it belongs.

Ockham's Razor:

Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem.

Or to put it in laymen's terms... and in English ....
The consistant solution with the least steps is generally the most correct.

No matter how you look at it, all explanations work without the application of "god".... hence "god" is always an unnecessary step and thus less correct.

Why would I? There isn't a shred of evidence to indicate that the wild tales of the Bible are at all true. Nor is there any evidence of a deity of any kind...whether God, Krishna, or Osiris.
