Religion means the way of life. Today in this materialistic world, people think that everything should have proof. Religion dont have proof and so ignore it. Live as you like and perish when the time comes. This way of thinking itself is against science. Becos today the whole science is based on certain unseen faiths & beliefs. Example, in Maths we assume "Limit tends to infinity" and solve many complex problems. What is this Infinity? No man knows it. SImilarly in Physics we assume a smallest wave particle called "Photon" which dont have any proof for existence physically, then proceed with atomic physics. Without such assumption & faith, physics is meaningless. So faith is not against science, it is a part & basis of science. Likewise we have billions of wonders around us and in our own body to proclaim the existence of God. Belief in such an Entity will only make our actions better, give peace to our mind in spite of so much anxious moments of our life. We cant say that we can believe everything only when we touch, feel, see, hear etc. Using our 6th sense we can see something but infer something else from that. When man still havent explored even 0.0001%(many zeros can be added) of the whole universe how can we guess about the Creator of such massive thing? That is why Islam says God is above everything. He don’t need a son, wife, a place etc. He don’t have time dimension. No past, present or future. With today's science it is easy to recognise which is the true faith now. Man has been given Free-will to choose his path. I wonder if really Buddha claimed himself to be a God. But today we see people falling before his statue.

Some don't have one. For some (Hinduism, Buddhism) the "Ambition" as you put it would be a kind of self-awarness and peace. It is different for each but that is the gist. For Christianity, Islam and Judaism, it is to live by God's rule and to avoid Hell. For many of the earth-worshipping pagan religions, there is no real ambition, the religion fills the need of communtiy and connection but there is no "Ambition" and many dont' even touch the idea of an afterlife. Many simply believe that that world will take care of itself.

My life is where my Ambition to share my belief comes from.
It is my testimony of what GOD through HIS Son Jesus Christ did to change the direction of my life, that was being guided throu the beliefs of others.
As a Christian, I have learned that in order to understand GOD and His Will, we must look at where we are in life, and where we came from (past, present, future) I believe that will determine where we go.
The only ONE whom did not hate me nor reject me was GOD long before I knew of Him...I believe He Made it possible for me to hear His word John 3:16 when I was ten yrs. old. The same night , (was a harsh night) I heard it again from my heart I received it and took the hand of my Savior.
I now at age 39, can look back over my life and SEE where He was, and how He guided me. And the TRUE Peace I have within me, the fact that I can Love, and forgive. All because of HIS compassion.
If I would have rejected His Word and His hand, my life would be different. And I would hate everyone including myself.

The main point of religion I think is to make people feel like when they die they wont stop existing, the difference of thugs is because there was different people who create them.
