The Southern Baptist Convention might as well disband now that they've cast doubt on their sole reason for existing!

Dog Sneeze: Point taken, but these are all sorts of Christian missionaries, not just evangelicals. And this patting-oneself-on-the-back fest in regard to the WIlberforce movie makes me vomit. They are *nothing* like WIlberforce. Trust me.

I don't think you read that whole article. You do know that some countries still practice slavery?? Mostly in Africa and the Middle East. They are trying to inform the rest of the world about it, so it can be completely stopped. This is a good thing. Right??

Thanks for the snide comment but human rights violations are often only reported by Christian missionaries. This was the data source for Noam Chomsky's critique of news media back in the 1980's (Manufacturing Consent and genocide of East Timor).

Yes, Christians are interested in the slave trade taking place in Sudan. Did you know it even existed?

It's just the fact that slavery is no longer in their best interest. Yet still we should be glad someone is concerned with the slave problem still existing around the world.

Not really. As always they are centuries behind everyone else.

It took the Catholics hundreds of years to finally admit their mistake concerning Galileo.

Fortunately, the world does not sit by and wait for these ninnies to catch up.
