I have a character named Auriel. What is her relation to her mother's cousin? (Liam) Is it uncle-neice? Are they cousins? If so, what kind? (2nd, 3rd, etc.)

A girl's mother's cousin is a First cousin one generation removed. Or you can say: 1st cousin once removed.

A second cousin would be the girl and the children of the girl's mother's cousin.

Its the girls 2nd cousin. Its her mothers first cousin so it makes it her second. If they are close in age and close in relationship then you can make it her first cousin. :)

If it's her mother's 1st cousin, then it would be her 2nd cousin. If it's her mother's 2nd cousin, then it would be her 3rd cousin and so on.
:)Hope this helps

They are First Cousins, once removed.

To be a second cousin, you have to share the same Great-grandparents....
Since the two are not in the same generation, you have the "removal" part of the relation....
