This pastor has a message of hate and intollerance.
Ishmael is Abraham's first born son, through Sarah's handmaiden. This surrogate pregnacy was accepted.
Ishmael was later banned from the tribe; but, being the first born, shouldn't he have inherited more?
One side says Abraham was asked to offer Isaac for sacrifice. The other side says Ishmael was offered.
Instead of looking at history to make some perverse claim that an entire population is "messed up", we should embrace our common origins and accept all as our brothren.
Isn't Christ's message about peace and love? If so, why are we so obsessed with finding reasons to dispise and hate?

Arabs are some of the descendents of Abraham, throught his son Ishmael. Ishmael is the son of Abraham and Sarah's maid Hagar. The birth of Ishmael was not illigetimate, the customs were much different then and the birth would not have been considered illigetimate. Sarah, foolishly, was trying to help out God by suggeesting that Abraham bare his son with Hagar. God's promise to Abraham was to be fullfilled throuth the birth of Isaac. God also gave Hagar promises for her son Ishmael (Genesis 21:17-21).
Religions are man made. Christianity is centered on Christ - Jesus paying our sin debt - His death and His resurrection from the grave. He paid a debt he did not owe, because I owed a debt I could not pay.

Sarah could not conceive, and although God had promised them a child, she did not want to wait any longer and took her Egyptian maid Hagar and gave her to her husband. Abraham had sex with her and Hagar bore Ishmael. Well, God always follows through on His promises and Sarah did conceive in her old age and had Isaac. Sarah did not want Ishmael to be an heir and asked Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. Abraham did so, but felt very bad about it. Hagar and Ishmael found themselves in the desert without water and food and she prayed go God. He performed a miracle and provided what they needed. Then He told Hagar: Genesis 21:18
Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
Ishmael was the progenitor of the Arabs, the traditional enemies of the Jewish people. Moreover Muhammed, the founder of Islam, whose adherents from Christianity's most difficult missionary problem, cam from the line of Ishmael. Islam is the world religion which is, perhaps, closest to Christianity; thus it is the hardes to penetrate with the Gospel of Christ.

Sorry your pastor is wrong. (I am a Catholic). Hagar (Abraham's first wife) and her son (Abraham's First Son) Ishmael were legit.
Further, Christianity really was bred by Ishmaelites.
Follow along. Christ the son of Mary does have lineage back to the Jacob and his father Isaac and his father Abraham.
But the Jacobites (Jews in Jerusalem when Christ was alive), denied him. Remember the Jews, along with Romans, chose for Christ to be crucified. Again, the Jacobites (who came from Isaac) offered Christ up, even though he came to save them .
Only the Apostles and a few hundred other Jacobites (Jews) believed in Christ. The apostles then went across Arabia, North Africa and the Mediterranean to spread Christ's words. The first Christians were the Egyptians, Arab Assyrians (Syrians) and Ethiopians. These people are from Ishmael, not Jacob.
Read Gensis closely. You will see that when Sarah had Abraham send Hagar and Ishmael away, God promised Abraham a strong nation for his first son, that would be hated by the tribes of Ishmael's brothers.
When Christianity formed, it was hated by the Jews and Romans. And, overtime Christianity became the world's most popular religion. Thus, fulfilling Gods promise to Abraham and Hagar.
Also, in Dueteronomy it says that a man shall give his first son, twice as much as his other sons, even if the other sons are from a wife more loved than the mother of his first son.
Think and remember that Isaac received all of Abraham's possessions. Ishmael recieved nothing of material. But, God gave the Ishmaelites Christianity, and the Jacobites received only earthly goods, because they denied the Son of God.
Ishmaelites are the original Christians. Even though Jesus was a Jacobite.

He is absolutely right!
The Muslims say the Jews changed the bible which is totally false. We, Christians, Jews and Muslims are all descendants of Abraham-this is true and we agree. BUT, Jews and Christians say the bible shows that it was his son Isaac that the Christ is to come from and these are the ones that God blessed.
Now, we can see in the dead sea scrolls that was written long before Mohammad that it indeed WAS Isaac and NOT Ishmael. The Muslims have believed a lie from Mohammad.
Sad really.

Your pastor is correct. Ishmael was the son of Hagar Sarah's maid. Abraham and Sarah were to wait on the Lord for the son that He promised them. However it took a long time and Sarah decided to take matters into her own hands and give her maid to Abraham. He took her and she had Ishmael. After Ishmael was born, Hagar began to use her status as mother of the first born to lord it over Sarah. she began to despise her mistress. So Sarah began to mistreat her. So Hagar ran away with her son. They were alone in the desert. Just as Hagar and Ishmael were close to death, God sent an angel to give them water and helped them survive. She was to go back to Sarah and be subject to her. Abraham's grave error has caused all the trouble we have today. He did not wait on God as he should have. Ishmael was not the son God had promised to Abraham and Isaac now has the competition for promise and birthright. For the complete story and the prophecy regarding the Muslim race, see Genesis 16. hope that helps.

Read Hebrews. Paul explains how the Covenant between God, the Father and Abraham became inclusive to all through faith in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Illegitimate sex? Polygamy was not forbidden in that time. Jacob had 2 wives, Soloman over 800. You are judging Patriarch's by the standards of the US in 2007. God is not limited by your lack of knowledge in that area. Remember Hagaar ( Sarah's hand maiden) and her son were also protected by God although he was not the son through whom the Covenant would be fulfilled. There are also who say that Muslims are the descendants of Ham the son of Noah whom Noah cursed. It is important to study the Bible before judging folks by your standard.

Read the story for yourself, that will help. The divine intervention was that God allowed her to bear a son WITH Abraham as the father, even though she was past child bearing age. She knew that her husband wanted a child, and offered her maid, which was a common practise back then, in order to further the family. Start at Genesis 17. You may E-MAIL me if you wish.

The Jews are descendants of Isaac and that is the bloodline of Jesus. The Arabs are descendants of Ishmael and that is the bloodline of Muhammad. God's covenant was with Isaac but Muslims think it was with Ishmael since he was born first, but they are mistaken. God promised Abraham a child with his wife Sarah even though she was barren. This is why Muslims will fight with Israel. They believe it was promised to them, but again they are wrong.
May God Bless you.
