Guys (some) can be stupid idiots. They only want what they can't have. So make yourself unavailable to him and he'll want what he lost. But if he lost something that special is too stupid to realize that, Do you really want him back? Trust me I just went through the same thing, they will realize later on when they've gone through h***. It is your decision to decide of he is worth waiting for since he lost a good thing in the first place.

You are going about this all the wrong way. You should never have to show someone or prove to them that you are worth being with. You only need to convince yourself. If you know that you are a great person with a lot to offer someone then it shouldn't matter what HE thinks. You shouldn't want to be with someone who doesn't appreciate you. Find someone who likes you for who you are and recognizes your great qualities without you having to point them out to him.

He didn't lose anything but what he no longer wanted. Most guys move on pretty easily, once they find a new breeze they forget all about the old one.

If he wanted you back, it would only be for one thing. Is that really what you want?

You can't "get" him (or anybody for that matter), to do or feel anything they don't want.
Go out with your friends, meet some new people.
