Anytime you use "All" you are going to be wrong, no matter what group you are talking about.
The bible does not teach brainwashing, however we Christians do try to follow the teachings in the bible. That is a good thing for society even if you are not a Christian.
We believe that God is our creator, and that he sent his Son as the final covenant with all people. I cannot believe that we created ourselves or that we were some wild accident, so I believe in God.
I was born Protestant, moved away from faith, studied for 22 years and then became Catholic.
Not one bible quote in the above!
Peace!

Ask me why I believe in God and I will prove His existence to you without quoting a single verse from the Bible.Ask me about my religious ideas and then I will start quoting from the Bible.I believe that Christians should use science and logic to argue why God exists,but after all we are Christians and you can't expect us NOT to quote from the Bible when it comes to everything else.If you ask a question concerning Christianity is'nt it logical that you should receive an answer from the Christian holy book?Where else must we find an answer for you?The only thing that's really unacceptable is the whole ''I believe in God because the Bible says so '' story.THAT's stupid.But after all I am a Christian and I believe in the Bible,so why can't I quote from the Bible?Your question seems like an incredible waste of 5 points.And look,I've just gained 2!

When people want to define a word, they use a dictionary as a reference. There is also a book called the PDR – Physician’s Desk Reference – which is used to identify different medications. Attorneys and judges refer to law books. They also refer to Black’s Law Dictionary.
I'm sure there is a U.S. Army outline for recruit training in book form. Officers and soldiers alike refer to it, yes? The military, of which you are a part, refers to such things as rules of engagement. Both chambers of the U.S. government - the Senate and the House of Representatives - refer to the Constitution. Your own President refers to the Constitution, yes?
Why then should Christians who have actually studied the Bible not refer to that reference material when asked religious questions in the religion and spirituality section?
Do you feel people who use dictionaries are brainwashed by them? Do you feel people who refer to the Constitution are brainwashed by it? Do you feel people who refer to the military training reference works are brainwashed?

We quote the Bible because that is our facts. If I ask you what date Columbus set foot over here you will probably say "October 12, 1492." But I would be more sure of your answer if you quoted from a textbook. The Bible is our "textbook" of sorts. It has the truth. We use the Bible as a reference so that others will know what we say is valid. We can say that Jesus is God, but if we have verses, it is all the more "proven" and "valid".

Yes. I admit to being brainwashed by the Bible. BUT! Not only the Bible. I have also been brainwashed by God Himself.
So this is someone who is not using scripture to describe himself. You got what you wanted. An admission as to the affirmative, and the further admission of someone who is dedicated to the idea of being brainwashed.
After all, I have a choice as to what to be brainwashed by. I choose to be brainwashed by the one who offers me eternal life. And on top of all that, I thank Him for it. ( ;

You're only half correct. Yes, some Christians live by the bible, but I go to church often and am Catholic, but I do NOT live by the bible and I never use bible quotes on this site. I think for myself because that's why God gave us minds.
