My MIL is having an Easter Egg hunt for my kids at her house in her yard. My son is 2 yrs and developmentally delayed and so I don't want to put the traditional pocket change in the eggs! Alot of the candies out there are choking hazards. Now I'm trying to figure out what would be appropriate to stuff the eggs with. Any ideas?

Skip the change and use $1 bills.
There are not a lot of things that will fit into an egg that aren't choking hazards, especially for 2 year olds. You could always take little finger snacks (like Cheerios) and wrap them in colorful cellophane and stuff that in the egg. Then when your son opens the egg he sees a pretty surprise and it is something he can eat.

Well first off, don't take from the other kids, their fun in finding the money if that's what your mom wants to do.....

There's all kinds of stuff to hide in the eggs, but really, you should let the eggs be filled with whatever the other kids need, then go through his basket and take away what you don't want him to have and replace it with the things you choose (just go to the store and find a bunch of non-choking non-hazard things)... Also add real eggs to the hunt, have him focus on one of the real eggs while you swap out what you don't want him to have.

some ideas to put in your purse for the swap: the little bunny bendie toys, marshmallow peeps, hollow chocolate rabbits, mini-playdohs.... find a party supply store, they have LOADS of small toys that are appropriate, and you won't have to buy all kinds because you're only buying for your son and you can make the swap.

The roblem is that most things that would fit into an egg, poses choking hazards. Either put a slip of paper into the eggs, for bigger prizes or buy larger eggs and put in larger items.

You can try making felt animals like bunnies or teddy bears. Because they're basically 2 dimensional you an roll them up or just stuff them into the eggs. Then he has toys to playwith that are safe. It all depends on the size of the eggs what size you can make!

Hope this helps! - Happy Easter!

The mini packages of Goldfish crackers (they fit in the larger size plastic eggs)

Stickers

cereal

tiny plushes (you know the things you put a quarter in and turn and get a little toy or candy? a lot of them have a SpongeBob SquarePants thing with little squishy SpongeBobs. we put them in the eggs)

temporary tattoos

finger puppets (Walmart has Easter-themed finger puppets with the Easter basket stuff)

hot wheels
chubby cars (from chubby town)
maybe number the eggs and when he finds them you can give him his favorite drink, snack, a favorite character toy, a book, an outside toy, a ball, a bigger toy he wont choke on

Gerber fruit puffs. Mini Ritz. Mini Nila wafers. Graham sticks. m&m's (I think they're too small to be choking hazards, plus they melt in your mouth)
