For those saying the F-22....
The F-22 is an AIR FORCE fighter, it is not designed for NAVY use.

Navy fighters have to meet certain requirements that add penalties unnecessary for Airforce planes.

Navy planes have to have certain structural reenforcements, a Tailhook, strengthened Landing gear, and a shuttle reciever bar.

These things are necessary for the plane to take off and most importantly LAND (which is to say a controlled crash) on the carrier.

The F-22 has none of this. Just adding a tailhook wont be enough. Stick a tailhook on a Raptor and land it and see what happens. on landing the gear would collapse and rip upward into the fuselage, the tailhook and the rear of the plane would rip off and the plane would explode.

All of these additional requirements cut into other capabilities of the plane such as fuel and range, payload capacity, etc...

Currently the F-14 replacement is the F/A-18E Superhornet. It is takiong the place of several different aircraft from the Tomcat to the A-6 Intruder.

As far as new advanced fighters coming down the line don't fret. they are coming. the New F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is in actual flight testing at this time and there will be multiple varients for the various branches of service. A standard USAF version. a Beefed up USN version, and even a V/STOL version for the Marines to take the place of the aging AV-8B Harrier. It will have stealth tech, and vectored thrust. and many other high tech and highly maneuverable abilities.

The SU-47 is an experimental plane. The U.S. will have the JSF and the F-22. The F-22 has already had combat trials and has logged a 114-0 kill ratio even when going up against 4 F-18s at a time.
