Thinking of getting used, 2005+, and looking for any comments and experience with either. Leaning towards the Vibe because it looks like it may have more cargo space in the back, but thats as far as Ive gotten so far.

The cars are pretty close to identical. Interiors and Exterior add ones are the only real differences. I would do the Toyota. I posed this same question to a family member that is a mechanic, and he said the Vibe is not bad, but the only things that go wrong are the GM parts thrown in there in place of the Toyota ones. I do seem to recall the alternators in particular were problematic. I have also heard of problems with the plastic panels coming loose/off/squeaking on the Vibes, where as the simpler appointments on the Matrix are just fine.

Do the Toyota. Chances are resale values are higher as well.

Well, if we were talking new, I'd say Matrix, because they hold their value better, being a Toyota. But since we're talking used, and since they're almost the same thing, the Pontiac is probably a better deal. I don't think there is really any more cargo space in them, but if you think so, then go for it. I'd buy the Pontiac.
