Hi,
What a great question! I know you want something simple, tasty and has that WOW factor too...this is a family favourite in my family. I have htree sons and they all love it. My 13 year old lists it as his favourite meal!
Ok here it is...
Ingredients (serves 4):
1 lb / 500g mince Half a head cabbage, shredded
2 medium onion, chopped 8 tbs tomato puree
Pinch cinnamon 8 fl oz / 240 ml beef stock
1/2 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Method:
Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Fry beef and onion until meat is browned (5 minutes). Pour off fat. Add tomato purée, beef stock, cinnamon, cloves, salt and pepper. Stir to blend. Place half the cabbage in a greased casserole, top with half the beef mixture, repeat layers, cover and bake for 35 minutes to an hour. Serve with buttered noodles and green beans.
I serve with pasta twists and beans...although you dont have to have the beans as it contains the cabbage already!
It is really easy to prepare then will cook in the oven till you ar ready, and while you cook the pasta.
Best of luck!
I bet you wow them!

Here's a simple one for Cracker chicken:
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
24 butter crackers, such as Ritz
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
10 small, skinned chicken drumsticks or about 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into 1-inch-wide strips
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon water
1. Heat the oven to 400°. Combine the crackers, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a food processor and process until the mixture resembles coarse meal. (If you don't have a food processor, you can crush the crackers in a sealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Transfer the mixture to a shallow bowl or a sheet of waxed paper.
2. Rinse the chicken with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs, honey, and water until blended. Dip the drumsticks or breast pieces into the egg mixture, then dredge them in the cracker mixture. Place the chicken on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
3. Bake drumsticks for 15 minutes, then turn them over and bake for 20 minutes more or until the chicken is tender and the coating golden. Bake chicken strips for 16 to 20 minutes, turning once. Serves 8 to 10.
add some broccoli or a salad and y ou have a meal.

Try this
Cheesey Steaks with green beans.
Just fry your steaks, heat up your oven about medium heat.
After frying the steaks place them in a flat baking tray, put some grated cheese and onion on top of the steaks then cover them with foil, put them in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Serve them with steamed green beans and maybe some steamed potatoes. If you dont have a steamer just boil them.
The cheesey steaks are yummy by the way.
Make sure you use beef steaks ;-)
Good Luck
