There are five words that I am aware of:

faex (feces) - dregs, sediments
excrementum - excretion, excrement
merda - excrement, droppings
stercus - manure, dung
fimus - manure, dung, mire

And Martox, I am shocked! I did not know those words existed until now. :-)

Excrementum, faeces or merda. Faeces is the more medical term of the three. Excrementum is the more neutral word. And merda can mean dirt, uncleanliness, excrement - and s***.

The word faeces is the plural of the Latin word "fæx" meaning "dregs".

"Merda" means "dung" or "excrement" and is considered rude.

Dung in Latin is merda, -ae, feminine. My 1957 dictionary doesn't have 'poo'.

feco-, fec-, faeco-, faec-, feci-
all mean faeces in Latin.

ps...'merda' means the same thing but is Italian, which is slightly different.
