If this is a religion room, why are there so many people (in my view, atheists) in here bashing Christians....If I want to ask/read a question I don't want to have to read all the ugly remarks....

Bett- there are ALOT of atheists bashing, if you have read any answers at all....Christians that answer are mostly answering questions not bashing people...and those that are know that it isn't right...

I'm not bashing anyone by my responses, I'm saying you cannot say that you fully understand Christianity, if you don't...to me that's a double standard...and I am not bashing anybody...I'm just saying my opinion in a nice way....

Alex-thank you for taking all of my responses to heart...I am just stating what i believe in...i COULD make accusations against you and your belief, but I am not...and if your going to say that i am just taking the high road, then I guess I am and see no problem with doing it...

Camel- the ugliness i am talking about is the responses of people...they don't JUST state their opinion, they say ugly and rude things...I think that is not o.k....we can talk to each other, and state opinions, without sounding like 12 year olds throwing tantrums...that's all i am saying....

Dave- I am not bashing anyone...sorry you feel that way and sorry to hear that you didn't grow up in a good environment, and I truly believe that is why you have turned your back...seriously, if i went through something horrible growing up don't think I would want to go back either...but there are people who say they are a believer, but by their actions they obviously are not and I think that is where christians get bad names from...

Because in society today it is okay to bash Christians. But if a Christian says one word in defense then they are Bible thumping, or shoving their religion down peoples throats. Its a double standard. People bash Christians and then we are supposed to be perfect and not reply (although we are only human too).

It seems like you're only seeing one side of the problem. The Christians are just as bad about bashing the Atheists. What I've noticed is that the Atheists bash all religions and the various religions bash each other and the Atheists. It's like a schoolyard fight. I just come to this section because I like to see the extremes that people will go to to defend their opinions even when they know they are wrong.

Why are there so many christians in the "real world" bashing EVERYONE?
I'm so sick of the same "why do atheists bash christians" question popping up here.
The christian's definition of "bashing" is anyone who does not share their views on religion & is open about not agreeing. Christians tell everyone they're abominations... they tell people they're damned to hell for being UNIQUE instead of being christian. Some atheists telling christians that their cult is wrong is FAR from "bashing." I think you christians need to grow up... You've come to terms with the fact that Santa isn't real..... take the next step & bring peace to this planet for once instead of giving the world another reason to fight!
Edit: Your opinion that understanding = acceptance is complete B.S. I understand christianity because i was FORCED to go to catholic church & eventually confirmation classes for the greater part of my younger life. I have JUST AS MUCH of an understanding of it as you claim you have (IF NOT MORESO) because i've experienced it! I am an atheist because there is TOO MUCh wrong with religion & there is nothing in the bible that can convince me otherwise because i know that the bible is just a story book for adults. To give them hope for their meaningless lives.
You ask why atheists bash yet you do your own "bashing" in theq uestion itself which BEGS for you to be bashed by those who are offended by your ignorant question.

Too bad for you. It's a free forum and you'll have to deal with reading the ugly things Xians say to everyone else.
And the ugly things that get said back to them in response for the horrible things that they say.
If you're thin skinned you shouldn't be here.
"And I don't think the atheist know more about Christianity than we do, otherwise you would all be Christians...If you truly understood Christianity..."
We do understand it. That's why we're atheists. If you truly understood how hateful and intolerant it is, you'd be an atheist too...unless you're also hateful and intolerant. In which case you should be a Xian.
And that garbage about being saved, not perfect is the lamest cop out I've ever heard. Way to take no responsibility for your own decisions.
"Christians that answer are mostly answering questions not bashing people...and those that are know that it isn't right..."
You're wearing blinders and not seeing things clearly. How convenient for you. And how very dishonest of you.
"and I am not bashing anybody...I'm just saying my opinion in a nice way...."
You're not giving an opinion. You're flat out lying to say it's just atheists and people who aren't "true Xians" (Logical Fallacy) who bash.

Perhaps the Christians should be careful about their sowing and reaping? You reap what you sow and so many Christians go around sowing seeds of hate, discord, conflict, rude answers and condemnation.
Is it really a suprise that in return you all reap the benefits of that? That you in turn reap the hatred, conflict, ugly remarks and rudeness?
If more truly Practiced what Jesus taught, then maybe instead of reaping hatred, you would reap love, compassion, mercy and forgiveness.
But that is just an idea on why there is so much hate on this board.

Hi Lids! Unfortunately, there are too many different people on this site who thrive on the controversy. I'm a Christian, and I can't even begin to tell you how annoying it is when you want to ask a serious question, and then have it answered by some unintelligent remark that has nothing to do with anything you asked. I agree with you. The good thing is you can click on the "thumbs down" on their answer, and it goes away and you don't have to look at it anymore.

Atheists don't believe in God, (of course) and so when people bring up God as a subject they think that they have to defend themselves. Also they like to criticize other people (who have any interest in God). They need to build themselves up, and the only way for them to do this is by putting Christians (or whatever anyone may be) down. They write back asking/telling you that there is no God so stop asking stupid questions. - Don't listen to them though, because they are wrong. Just ignore them, and don't read their comments any further when you see any hint of criticism!

Bashing happens all over the cyber world. Fundamentalists provoke much of the hostility by engaging in it here and elsewhere and then the rest of us end up dealing with some of it for two reasons.
1. Fundamentalists think they are the only good and true representatives of Christianity
2. Non-Christians are often not well informed as to the very major differences between fundamentalism and everyone else in Christianity

Yes! This is the primary place for those who have serious questions to ask.
Unfortunately there are a lot of opinionated people who delight in what they consider a joke.
There are also a lot of dedicated people who might have been mislead. Your use of this medium will have to be a cautious one accepting some bad answers by scrolling past what you feel is a bad answer. On the other hand there are websites dedicated to the truth where you will find honest researched answers, placed there with love.
Here is the one I use.

This forum is a discussion of religion. It doesnt say you have to be religious. I enjoy talking about religious issues. I also think its important for religious people to know that there are other points of view. I make an effort to be respectful and not be a basher.
