I completely disagree with everyone saying there isn't a thing you can do. Most streets have a no parking clause if they are controlled (ie paved) by the city. Many neighborhoods have home owners associates that dictate rules more strictly--in my neighborhood a car cannot be parked on public area more than 3 days.
HOWEVER--As far as your view goes, I doubt there is much difference b/t her parking in front of her own house or your house. You still have a car right in front of your house. And if you cause a problem, she might start parking on her side of the road on the exact opposite from your driveway. I had a neighbor whose son always did this and it made it very difficult to back out of our driveway. We usually had to make a 5 point turn just to make sure we didn't hit his car.
(I don't know where the rant the other person posted comes from about people having driveways complaining--she doesn't know if you have a driveway or not. When I read that I thought, "off the point")
In my neighborhood, many people have gardners and if the landservice can't park within 1 house of your house, they will call you and inform you that they couldn't do their job that day. If you've had the car towed, they will check back at the end of their day. So I guess there is always the option of having the car towed, but I wouldn't want to cause a feud with my neighbors.
But yes if this causes a problem when you have friends over and they can't park near your house b/c of it or if you need the space to park yourself, I would inform the landlord. If the landlord is making a profit, she should provide the parking area. As far as a diplomatic way to handle it with the renter--You asked her, she declined. There is no polite way to further conversation with this renter.
Good luck with the landlord.

She must either have trouble parking in front of her house when she gets home from work (either she is coming from the other direction or there is someone parked there then) or she really just doesn't think it is a big deal. My question would be, is it that big a deal? As it is a public street, there is nothing you can do and you have little right to. The best thing to do would be to speak politely with her again but you might just have to get over it.

I hate when people do this, I would for one, park my car there, and tell them, I use this space, but can't since your renter and her boyfriend have been, I am sure that there is some type of ordnance for this type of matter. Just be polite about it, find out about the ordinance and if worse comes to worse, then get rude, they can park in front of their own house, or perhaps in the back of the house?

I never understood this. Why do people think they own the street in front of their home? My house does not have a driveway. We have 3 cars in my home, so of course we park on the streets as close to our home as possible, this is the only thing we can do until we move out and buy a home with a driveway. You don't own the street so she can park anywhere she wants to. And I hate when ppl who have driveways park in the street, and those are usually the ones that complain-the ones that have driveways.

I don't think that the neighbor, neighbor's spouse/children, renter, and renter's boyfriend all fit in front of their own house. They have to park somewhere, right? Can't stack the cars on top of each other...
Get home earlier than they do.

You have asked politely and it would have been a neighborly thing for her to comply but legally, there is nothing you can do about it. A public street is free parking for anyone.
