How long and how many dependents can I claim on my taxes so I get the max from each paycheck without owing on tax day?

You don't claim dependants on the W4 you claim exemptions,
To determine the maximum amount to have withheld to cover any tax debt use the withholding calculator at the IRS website, you need to have your most recent pay stub to complete the calculator, it will advise at the end what you should be claiming

Use the worksheets on page 2 of Form W-4 to calculate your withholding exemptions and any additional withholding amounts required for your tax situation.

You don't claim dependents on Form W-4; you claim them on your tax return. You can only claim the actual dependents that you support and are legally entitled to claim.

Fill out the form accurately, claiming the allowances that you are entitled to. This can be more than the number of exemptions that you have. If you claim more than you're entitled to, you'll likely end up owing at the end of the year.
