ok you need to dl a program called ConvertXto DVD this will convert any type of file including avi to dvd and when its done automatically starts burning it....i just finally figured this out myself after i started downloading those torrent movies that are in all different formats my nero wouldnt work and i tried all different converters and they all sucked until i found this 1......it works great trust me all you do is put the file you want to convert in the window put a disc in your drive and press 1 button and it converts and burns with no other clicks of a button

A good burning software I recommend is Ashampoo Burning. It's 100% free and can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVn7O

If you want to create a DVD that works on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the files of the movie as is won't work (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly). Ashampoo is a good option for every "burning need". It's reliable and professional, It can be used both for CDs and DVDs and it's very easy to use.

This what one website says:

If the movie isn't already in DVD format (but avi, mpg, ect). Try Nero Burning Rom (http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html). This will confert almost any file type to a DVD image that will play on any DVD player.
You could also try the link below:

I hope this could help you.

well if your trying to burn a dvd to play in your home theater dvd player your not going to want it in avi because unless your dvd player can play avi it's not going to work , use a program such as any dvd to decode the movie so it can be burnt , nero will not burn (copy ) a dvd on it's own
