Like the story from Don I too have had such an experience. It is so unexplainable what else could it be but our God. I was driving at night with my 2 kids in the backseat. I don't see well in the glare of headlights. I had already gotten lost once only to luck? upon another road that went the way I wanted to go. I was in the center lane when a semi entered the highway from either side of me. I was totally blinded by the headlights. Couldn't see a thing but the brightness. I shut my eyes for an instant and prayed for help. The next instant when I opened my eyes it was again dark and I had safely made it past the semi's. I believe that I must have had an angel on my shoulder or we wouldn't have made it. I know for a fact that we would have all died that night if not for my angel.

I don't believe you will ever find historical proof that God exists. God is not a tangible object like a diamond or a car. You can't touch God or have a cup of coffee with him/her.
However, that does not mean that you can't feel God's presence when you watch the sun rise against a clear morning sky, or feel his/her presence during a mild spring rain. I see God manifested most strongly in the splendor in nature. That is my proof, and the only one that I need.

Their parents / peers told them so.
You'll find everyone, at their core, has a "base truth" that they compare everything else to..... an axiom of sorts.
No matter what else they might question in their life, it is obscenely difficult to get someone to overturn their "base truth"... as it essentially demands that they deny everything they ever thought they knew (since, as I mentioned, everything is validated initially based on that core notion... like the foundations of a skyscraper).
Occasionally these notions can be disrupted... and even replaced. Whatever replaces them though will likely become even more deeply entrenched than the initial notion...
Of course those of us who look upon the idea of god as anything BUT an initial axiom.... realise that it is entirely superfluous. Ockham's Razor eradicates any need for the concept of god in any part of life.... which is ironic considering that William of Ockham was a franciscan friar.

Actually, it's incumbent on someone making a positive assertion to provide proof. That is, if you say "God exists" then it's up to you to prove it.
But this question isn't about proof, it's about belief which is a totally different question.
One thing I would say though is that it's not that clever to quote the 'miracle of childbirth' as proof of God given it's high discomfort and mortality rate.

For this universe to be a cosmic accident seems absurd to me personally but there really is no 'proof' for God. Its something you have to come to on your own based on logic and reason. Its not the existence but rather the characteristics of God that should be debated.

there is not one shred of hard evidence on this planet for the existence of a supernatural supreme being responsible for the universe and all it contains...'god' is a human invention that has evolved from attempts to explain and understand the natural world and its unpredictability and that evolution followed very predictable patterns...all you really need do is follow the evidence history provides to see this...

there is a power out there greater than ourselves..stop and contemplate how complex the human body is, yet it works in such a way, that no mere being could have created it, same with nature..but this is what I have found...you need to find your own perspective. But hey---have things ever happened to you or someone you know that there just is no logical explanation???

No it is personal experience.
Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

Look at creation and that should proove a Creator, one does not look at a painting and say proove there is a painter, or one does not look at a building and say proove there is a builder. Add, to that there is arcilogical evidence that prooves the Bible, go to http://www.creationevidence.org/ for proof.
