I'd probably start by getting rid of cancer, then world poverty. If our god is so "great" why doesn't he get of his lazy ar.se and stop kids from dying? I'll tell you why, because he's a ****, I say it's time we got someone new in.

Many honest-hearted people ask this question, often posing it to their religious leaders. Sometimes the response is that suffering is God’s will and that he long ago pre-determined everything that would ever happen. Sometimes we are told that God’s ways are “mysterious” and we cannot understand them. What does the Bible say? At Job 34:10 we read: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!” And at John 4:8 we read that God is the very personification of love. This type of God then is full of compassion. Still the question arises, why does he allow such suffering?

People mistakenly blame God for all the suffering in many cases because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. That is not so. The Bible clearly states: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) Makes sense, doesn’t it? This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who, according to Revelation 12:9, is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” Satan is hateful, vicious deceptive, and cruel. Is that not what you see around you? That is one reason there is so much suffering.

A second reason is that mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans fight for dominance which results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9) Still another reason for suffering is that, occurring to Ecclesiastes 9:11, “time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all.” In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Still, why does the Almighty, not stop it? Why does he hold back? There must be a compelling reason! There is.

Vital issues were raised at the rebellion in the Garden of Eden. Satan did not call into question Jehovah’s power; he is not stupid. He knows Jehovah’s power is limitless. No, Satan questioned Jehovah’s right to rule. He called God a liar; implying that God withholds good things from his subjects, hence he charged that God is a bad ruler. (Genesis 3:2-5) Satan slyly insinuated that mankind would be better off without God’s rulership. This was an attack on Jehovah’s sovereignty, his right to rule.

Adam and Eve believed and rebelled, saying in effect, “We don’t need Jehovah as our ruler. We can decide for ourselves what is right and what is wrong.” How could Jehovah settle that issue? How could he teach all intelligent creatures that the rebels were wrong and that his way truly is best? Destroy them on the spot? Well, his purpose was to fill the earth with the children of Adam and Eve, and he wanted them to live in an earthly paradise. (Genesis 1:28) Jehovah ALWAYS fulfills his purposes. (Isaiah 55:10, 11) Besides, destroying the rebels on the spot would not have answered the questions raised.

To illustrate: suppose a teacher is telling his students how to solve a hard problem. A bright but rebellious student claims that the teacher’s way of solving the problem is wrong. Some students think he’s right, they too rebel. What should the teacher do? If he kicks them out of class, what will the other students think? “Hey, maybe those rebels are right and that’s why the teacher got rid of them!” The other students in the class might lose respect for the teacher, thinking that he is afraid of being proved wrong. But suppose that the teacher allows the rebel to show the class how he would solve the problem.

God has done something similar. The rebels in Eden were not the only ones involved. Millions of angels were watching. (Job 38:7; Daniel 7:10) How Jehovah handled the rebellion would greatly impact those angels. So, Jehovah has allowed Satan time to show how he would rule mankind. God has also allowed humans to govern themselves under Satan’s direction.

The teacher knows the rebel and the students who follow him are wrong. But he also knows that letting them have opportunity to prove their point will benefit the whole class. When the rebels fail, as of course they must, all honest students will see the teacher is the only one qualified to lead the class. They will understand why the teacher now removes any rebels from the class. Similarly, Jehovah knows that all honest hearted humans and angels will benefit from seeing that Satan and his fellow rebels have failed and that humans cannot govern themselves. Like the prophet Jeremiah, they will learn this important truth: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.” Jeremiah 10:23.

Yeah but why is God taking so long? And why doesn’t he prevent bad things from happening? In the illustration, the teacher would not STOP the rebel from presenting his case; neither would the teacher HELP the rebel make his case. God has not stopped Satan and those on his side from trying to prove they are right. Neither would God help Satan. If God were to prevent horrible crimes, for instance, would he not, in effect, be supporting the case of the rebels? Yes! For the people would say, “See, we can do this ourselves. Nothing terribly bad is happening! We do not need God to rule over us! We can do quite nicely without disastrous results.” No, Jehovah God will neither hinder Satan nor help him – until the issues are settled.

In the meantime, God is actively seeking sincere worshipers and helping them to endure any suffering that may come upon them. John 4:23; 1 Corinthians 10:13. And when God does step in, he will undue all the damage that has been done.

For our US friends - 'tosser' = Jerk-off.

Now, let's take your question slightly laterally.
Suppose you were The Almighty Creator.
You have a blank sheet and are thinking of creating the perfect environment for your NEXT creation, mankind.
What shape would you make it?
How much of it would be a pleasant place to live?
How would you arrange the climate?
Would your world be stable and not in constant motion? (Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes/typhoons, tsunamis and assorted results of tectonic plate shifting being what I refer to)
Would the temperature ranges be comfortable all over or just in some small areas?
Would you add in mosquitoes just for the laughs?
Would you create mankind that was perfect and not subject to any one of countless horrible diseases or even their teeth falling out the moment you reach 80 years old.
Would you retain some sort of control over what goes on, just in case some of the naughty people stated fighting and killing innocent other people?
Would you make yourself visible, just so that the naughty people really DO know that you are in control?
Would you demand to be worshipped? Or would you give unconditional love to all your creations?
And so the list goes on and on and I am tired. Need some sleep.
Short answer - this fictitious god did a crap job.

"All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fear, fraud, greed, imagination and poetry".

GOD gave us the ability to choose. This ability is what messed up our world. Some people choose what is right and some people choose the wrong thing. As for CANCER I believe that's a new age disease brought on by the food industry not on purpose, but in the development of canning food and making it last longer. I have no pruff, but that's what I THINK.

See, I don't think god(s) had anything to do with where we are. I think (t)he(y) just threw a whole bunch of crap together, plopped some microorganisms in the sea, and sat back to watch the fun. So not lazy, just doesn't want to ruin the entertainment.

Well I wouldn't want to try, I don't think that I could handle the job.

with out sickness there could be no health, with out poverty there is no wealth, with out hate there is no love without life there is no death. with out doubt there is no faith. It just keeps going on and on.

It would be wonderful if we could have only good things happen to us yes it would.

We would have to be in heaven to have a life with out problems or sickness.
