That would be giving up your independence. He has no right to ask that of you. Make the best decision for you. Once you give up your independence, you become his possession, and he 'd dictate to you when to jump and how high. Marriage is about two people who love each other, therefore compromise is imperative.

i don't think so..why is his career so much better than yours? sounds to me like he has a bad case of the greedies...he wants you in HIS life, on HIS terms, the way he wants it...i think just the fact that he wasn't willing to give up HIS career, but instead asked you to give up yours says alot about how he really feels about you...unless there is some other reason in here that you have not stated, like he lives in a WAY better place, or he makes WAY more money than you, i would have a serious talk with this man...and then if he didnt change his tune a little, i would hand him his walking papers.

Depends. . .
If you are comfortable subjugating yourself and destroying your means of financial stability in the very unlikely event that your fiance becomes disabled or passes, then give up your work life for him.
However, if you value freedom and independence, then you have to take a stand.
It's your call. It's your life.

Time for a compromise! Why can't he move closer to your job? You need to talk about this before you get married or you might regret it.

No problem, - just have him replace your salary and benefits for an equal or greater amount. If he refuses - tell him the answer is NO!
