Death is always viewed from two perspectives... one as a normal human being and the other as wise sees it!
Every mortal fears death for the simple reason... all that he earns working hard (throughout his life) cannot be carried to next life. All efforts going to waste... we rue the day death will catch hold of one.
Inherently most human beings enjoy pursuing materialistic riches throughout their life. When comes the time to depart... they try understanding the fundamentals of death. It is too late by then! When young... one could have learnt the Wisdom of Bhagavad Gita and dispelled ones fears for ever but they were always short of time. Now death has shortened their life span.
Wise having gained the pearls of wisdom reading the Bhagavad Gita realize the underlying truth. They understand that the physical manifested life is an ephemeral phase in the cosmic life cycle of soul atman within. Nothing is permanent in nature except a liberated soul.
Living the Nishakama karma away is the best way to defeat death in its face. Every human being gaining enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha) becomes immortal. Immortality is not to be lived physically... it is a concept to be understood! The wise understand it... the commoner longs for it!
For a wise death is like changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Our soul atman within manifests body after another to remove the impurities within! In the physical manifested world people cry over the death of the body... in the spiritual domain our soul atman is happy manifesting the next phase of life. At first it was being the first to go at a young age. Now that is not a problem anymore.
I think the worst part would be how you die. I do not want to linger with a disease and know its coming. I'd much rather (if given the choice) go to sleep and not wake up here. That would be the best way to go.
But alas, we have no choice in the matter. But since Jesus will be with me, everything will be A ok.

Leaving family & friends behind.
or
My body, which I have protected since I knew how, rotting and me not being able to do a thing about it.
But yeah, the fact that it's inevitable and can come in any possible method is the worst part.

I'm not gonna say that im not afraid of death, that would just be silly.
But I think life is at least as scary, because its bad enough thinking about all the sadness that will be after you're gone, but during your life, you can be guaranteed to go through a whole heap of sad, and bad and scary things!
I know it sounds like a really negative view to have, and I'm not saying its all bad, sure theres a whole heap of good things are gonna happen too.
But it sure puts death in perspective!

I am not afraid of death itself as I am a spiritualist and know that the soul or spirit lives on, just the earthly body dies. I dread becoming old and infirm, not being able to do anything for myself anymore and, yes, like most, I hope I don't depart this earth in a lot of pain.

I don't experience a worst part, death is just another birth, an initiation into the marvel of all that there is

Nothing, actually. I have made it clear I want 'whole body donation' when I die so someone gets some use out of me. Hopefully I will end up in the rather aptly named 'gross anatomy lab' and spend the next few years giving medical students raging nightmares. I giggle just thinking about it!
Then I want to be skinned and framed. These tattoos were expensive and should not be wasted!

I have a fear of panicking when I realise that it's happening or about to happen. I'm very afraid of being afraid. I also get a bit nervous at times about when and how I will die... Is today my day? Next week? My gut feeling says I will be around for quite a while... I hope I'm right.

Any sadness that may be caused by my demise. I've seen too many people fall apart because of the sudden death of a loved one.

My biggest fear when it comes to death, isn't death... How long will it take? Will it hurt? Will I have to deal with something like alzheimer's beforehand?
The death itself doesn't bother me, I'm friends with death, it's taken many people near and dear to me. I know there's a few possibilities, but even being nothing but wormfood afterwards doesn't bother me. *shrug*
