This question seems to ask whether a healthcare professional who is a Jehovah's Witness can administer a blood transfusion to a non-Witness patient. Each healthcare professional among Jehovah's Witnesses must decide this for himself, being careful not to violate his conscience (JWs note w99 4/15 p29).

Well that would be quite the ethical conflict. I personally know that there are many efficient NON blood solutions. As Witnesses we know the harm BTs can cause. More than likely the Doctor would, after giving his opinion, let the patient decide if they wish to seek a second opinion. Honestly enough I would want to first think of the oaths involved. Do no harm. Knowing as we do the complications from BTs, we know them to often be VERY harmful.

In good Christian conscience I doubt a Witness/Physician could give a BT. It is reminiscent of when a Doctor is asked to preform an abortion. Some feel OK doing it. As Christians we know that life is life, even if it is an infant. If a patient wants something we cannot in good conscience provide they could always find someone else to go to.

It would come under the same issue being dealt with by pharmacists who refuse to give out morning after pills. Ultimately, it is up to the conscious of the doctor, but I would imagine that they would avoid areas where that might become an issue. When I was young, that may have been a problem, as you family doctor would also be the same one operating on you, but now the system has become very specialized.

Blood is not the only issue in which a witness would avoid something not in keeping with the Bible. Witnesses that own small stores also don't sell cigarettes and liquor, despite the profit of it.

Its not whether they can or not. They choose not to, and practice non-blood medical management according to their Bible trained conscience.
