Do Roman Catholics still think they are the only ones who will be 'saved' come the day of judgement? Also what do Roman Catholics need to do to assure their salvation?

Outside of the Catholic communion with the true Roman Church, there is absolutely no salvation.

St. Augustine (354-430), Bishop and Doctor of the Church: "No man can find salvation except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church one can have everything except salvation. One can have honor, one can have sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer amen, one can have faith in the Name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and preach it too, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church."

St. Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621), Bishop and Doctor of the Church: "Outside the Church there is no salvation...therefore in the symbol (Apostles Creed) we join together the Church with the remission of sins: 'I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins"...For this reason the Church is compared to the Ark of Noah, because just as during the deluge, everyone perished who was not in the ark, so now those perish who are not in the Church.

A Roman Catholic must strive to live a life of grace by availing of the sacraments of the church. Regular confession, striving to keep away from mortal sin and even venial sin, regular attendance at Holy Mass, daily Rosary, wearing of the brown scapular of Carmel, cannot absolutely guarantee (since we never know the thoughts of God) but can help assure the Roman Catholic of salvation.

Roman Catholics do not believe they are the only ones that will be saved on Judgment Day.

Let me rephrase that: Catholics that actually KNOW the teachings of the Church, do not believe that they are the only ones that will be saved on Judgment Day.

Catholicism is often stereotyped as something it is not. You would not believe some of the things I've heard people tell me about Catholicism.

One fact is that many non-Catholics, and unfortunately many Catholics as well, don't know what the beliefs of the Catholic Church really are. So don't be afraid to ask.

If you have any questions about Catholicism or Christianity, feel free to send me a message. I'm not what you would call a "bible-thumper", I just want to be helpful if there is anything that is unclear to you.

Thanks,
Anthony

That doctrine about salvation being exclusive to the Catholics has been modified to give way to Ecumenism. Here is the doctrine of the Church now on salvation.

Faith justifies initially, but works perfect and complete our salvation. If all it takes to be saved is "to confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead" (Romans 10,9) then why must I change? Oh sure, I should change my sinful ways. I should try to please God. But if I don't does it really matter? My salvation is assured?

Salvation is a process of perseverance through faith, hope and love. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that one is justified or saved by "faith alone." On the contrary, man is not justified by faith alone. A person is justified by faith and works acting together, which comes solely from God's divine grace. Faith alone never obtains the grace of justification. Also, the word "justified" is the same word Paul uses for justification in Romans 4,3 in regard to Abraham (so Protestants cannot argue James is not referring to "justification" in James 2,24 unless they argue Paul wasn't either in Romans 4,3).

(See also: Luke 24,47; Acts 2,38, 3,19, 17,30; John 3,36; 2 Corinthians 10,15; 13,15; Galatians 5,6)

Peace and every blessing!

No, we don't think we're the only ones who will be saved. Well, I take that back, there's some old-schoolers out there who are holding out from the centuries of anger and propaganda and political mayhem that have subsided substantially.

Sola Christus, Sola Gratia:

Salvation is an act of grace, obtained through a living faith (ie, a faith that is kept alive by good works), and obedience to the Lord. It strives towards relationship with Christ, being His friend, not just His servant, which comes through partaking in the Eucharist, engaging in acts of charity, seeking holiness and praying constantly.

The road to salvation is phrased differently between Catholics, evangelicals and reform protestants, but there is little difference between us. By grace alone are we saved, by Christ alone are we saved.

Pastor Billy says: Barney tell me you don't jump around in a purple dinosaur suit for a day job.

Can I call you Mr. Rubble? Mr Rubble here's the take on things....... you've fallen for the regularly regurgitated anti-catholic mush or grog served by poorly educated pastors and preachers.

Roman Catholicism has always taught it is by God's grace that we are saved and that God can at anytime decide to save in his mercy anyone he so wishes even non-Christians and non-believers. God has the ultimate say on the matter.

Now with that said Catholics also understand that when given the truth people are called to believe all that God wants and offers to us so to be a practising Catholic is the best way for anyone to receive all that God promises us and it is the best way to prepare for our possible salvation.

Now some wise guy is going to comment on assurance I've been waiting for you please see my links below

>>Do Roman Catholics still think they are the only ones who will be 'saved' come the day of judgement?<<

That is a myth. Here is what the Church teaches:

"Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience." -- Lumen Gentium 16

Being Catholic doesn't guarantee salvation, you only have a better chance.
Arvin you have been misguided:You cannot have sin without guilt.Christ gave power to the Church saying "whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in Heaven". It is not a sin to put up a statue of Christ or the Blessed Virgin Mary.Frankly I think you insult God as being immature.

And Roman Catholics have Graven Images an they Worship it. How can they be save if in the bible says that:

Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 5:7
King James Version

Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

Deuteronomy 5:8
King James Version

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me ,

Deuteronomy 5:9
King James Version

if They only take the bible seriously. there hope.for salvation.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

The Acts 10:34

God like all of us to be saved. if you return in the real doctrines of God In the Bible.

No, we do not think we are the only ones who will be 'saved'. We love Protestants as our brothers and sisters, as well as all people of the world, because Christ loves us.

Our salvation rests on repentence, our faith in Christ and following His commandments.

God bless.
