Why would you refer to yourselves as christians, followers of Christ, when Jesus clearly told us we cannot go where He is? Do you not understand that you reveal your complete ignorance of the Holy Spirit when you talk about putting on Christ or trying to be like Jesus? Trying to be like someone else other than who you are is futile and is not what He told us to do. Do you not understand that it is you He is talking to in Matthew 7:21-23?

Are you referring to WWJD?

Mantras and modern Christian movements do that a lot. They sound like a good thing until you really look at them.

I had a hard time understanding what you were talking about, but I think that I got it.

If I did understand you, then yes, people tend to do more than what the Spirit of God would have them do. Yet another way people project their will into what God wants. Beingt like Jesus comes from the Spirit of God, if it's to be an accurate representation. Otherwise it's us acting like what we think that Jesus would act like.

Friend, How you all try to put a doctrine on 2 verses without even knowing yourself what he is saying. Jesus told his Apostles, that there will be a time that many will not be in the truth, they will sway away from the truth & they will think they are doing God's will, & it is not God's will, True Christians are to put on the Mind of Christ. Now you also try to say that Jesus said where I am going ye can not go, do you know why he said that, Because, salvation has not yet been completed, & Because the Kingdom of God is within us. But yet There is a place for us in heaven. We had to wait until the completeness of salvation was over, which is Death, burial & resurrection & Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Did you know the Saints will help to rule & reign & judge with Jesus Christ.

It is obvious that you feel you already know the answer to the question your asking. So my question to you is, why are you asking it? But I'll answer anyway. The problem you are having is one of vocabulary. The word follower can mean a few different things. One can literally be a follower of someone meaning to follow that person's physical movements. Jesus told his apostles that they could not go where he was going at the time because he was dying and going to heaven. His apostles could not follow him to heaven because they were not going to die with Jesus. Now, there is another meaning of follower. A person who follows another in regard to his or her ideas or belief; disciple or adherent. That is what people mean by followers of Christ. And by the way, the scripture you stated has nothing to do with the holy spirit or being Christ-like. Its about people who claim to follow Christ but don't have a real relationship with him and do not follow the fathers will. You got a lot of things mixed up. I hope I helped you understand.

We true born again Christians don't physically "follow" Christ. you are being misinformed somewhere. What it means to "follow Jesus" means to read and live by His word. We don't try and be like Him either, but instead follow His example and know if what we do will be what He wants us to do. We get convicted by the Holy Spirit when we do wrong. You have to be born again to understand what the Bible verses mean.

Talk about ignorance did you actually read the verse you cite and the verses around them. Jesus is talking about false prophets and how they will be rejected for "prophesying" and preforming miracles in his name when they are not true followers of his word. I will admit that this does concern some so called preachers these days who say they preform miracles and preach the truth but are false prophets but it has nothing to do with Jesus saying don't follow these teachings I give you.

When we say we "follow" Christ, we are not talking in a literal sense, ie we are not "following" Christ into the kitchen for a snack! In this sense, "follow" indicates "obey": we take His teaching as directions for our lives, and discipline ourselves according to His word. Those who follow the "disciplines" of Christ are called His "disciples".

BTW, you missed the tail end of that reference. Jesus clearly told His (immediate) group of disciples that "you cannot follow me now, but you shall follow me later". He was referring to His imminent suffering, death, and ressurection. Many of those present at that speech would indeed, later on in life, suffer and be tortured to death. At least 2 of those present were even crucified (Peter and Andrew). In THAT sense, they DID literally follow Christ, except they still wait for the ressurection, as do we all.

Its just a word like Democrat or Repulican

Christian is just a word...

as you believe so shall you receive...

God's plan of salvation is wisdom to the believer but foolishness to the unbelievers...
Luther did not want a Church named after him but there is a Lutheran Church..is there not? So its just tradition that names us Christians...
