I suggest just Vista, not the upgrade. This is because I prefer to start from scratch and format the drive to get a clean install, but I tend to be paranoid. But my understanding is that if you get the upgrade version then you have to have a legal copy of XP installed on your system or the Vista upgrade won't work. This means that years from now, if you get a new hard drive or need to reinstall for some reason, you'll have to install XP and then Vista over it, so if you lose your XP discs you could have a problem.

If you already have XP then buy the upgrade the only difference is the price.
I would think seriously before getting vista though. Vista has just 1 advantage over XP which is that it looks prettier, and there are still a lot of problems with vista.

frankly, i think you should take a good look at your system. if it is not the latest version i.e. dual core processor and the whole lot, having vista would not really help.
besides, it's not too pricey given the fact that you could walk into a shop in funan or sim lim to get a new pc with the latest installed. in short, save the money. stick with what u have until u decide to change a new pc.
good luck

I think you should wait atleast 4 months until you 'upgrade' to Vista.

wait a LOT until you upgarde to vista...everybody's saying what a spoof it is. Wait until they debug it and reissue another corrected version. Your XP will serve you well until you have the vista.
