Isn't French an official language as well as English in Canada?

Sure, French is THAT, but frankly, hardly anyone speaks (though everything is labeled in both languages) it outside of Quebec and select communities. French is the exception to English, in other words, BUT customs officers are usually fluent in both. So next time you go through airport security, give that lady/man in uniform a big smile and loud "Bon jour!"

Cheers and adieu to you!

PS You can still ask questions in French here - no one's stopping you. I've seen that done quite a few times on here, so if you want, ask, en français, to your heart's content. And of course, there's always Yahoo! France ( http://fr.answers.yahoo.com/ ).

One more thing - Anglophones outnumber francophones, plain and simple, so you're guaranteed a greater audience just asking questions on regular ol' Yahoo! Answers. Just a thought.

The official language for Y!A Canada (which I presume is the "here" you're referring to) is English.

I think it'd be nice to have a Y!A Canada français...or just Y!A en français mais pas "français"...or a combo, like the English can be (I'm on Y!A USA, but I get all the English questions---and I'm really an anglo-Quebecer living in the German part of Switzerland (though there are only a couple dozen of US, not enough for our own Y!A)).

In Louisiana they still do, and it's that Cajun French.....very cool ! It's different than Canadian French. It's not as "proper". (like the difference between southern English, and northern English) It's dying out. Not as many people speak it anymore. There was a time when French was spoken more than Spanish in my part of Texas, but , about 100 yrs. has changed that.
