In order to replace your passport, you need to complete an application for passport just like you would if you were renewing it. However, if your passport is severely damaged, you can't renew it by mail. You must appear in person at a passport acceptance agency. the department ofo state's website indicates that with routing processing you should receive a new passport within 10 weeks. If you choose expedited service (more expensive) you should receive it in about 2 weeks. But expedited service is *a lot* more expensive, so I would take the time if you don't need it in a hurry.
