Well, people just make mistakes I guess. We're not perfect. If someone says "sorry for what I'm about to do" then they're not really sorry at all, so it normally comes in hindsight.
Also, sometimes doing the thing that will hurt someone is the lesser of two evils. Or we don't realise the adverse effect it will have.
As well, sometimes I say "sorry" but I don't mean it to suggest that I regret what I did. I am just sorry that someone has to be hurt because of it. Sometimes no matter how hard we try to do the right things, someone will get hurt.

We Americans tend to mis use the word, sorry. It means what it means -- that it was an act to be sorry for, but I did it anyway. After committing an act that we realize we should not have done, we should apologize, "I apologize for doing or saying that". We are not admitting that we are a sorry person as saying I'm sorry states, but, only apologizing for an act, that only a sorry person would normally make, and an act that we don't make often or hadn't ever made before. If you are a good person, you won't have apologize often and never say that I am sorry.

Its a way of someone showing that they feel bad about what they have done and they have taken time to think about it.I agree that they should think before acting but no ones perfect. Sometimes sorry can do wonders!

Many people react rather than think first and then speak or react bc they get angry and their emotins come to the surface before their thinking brain does..that wass not a very scietific way of putting it but I hope you get the jest of it.
maybe of many other psycological type reasons we and they dont and won't understand bc they don't really know they have these
and they then appologize out of a societal form of ettiquette of manners and politeness to make ammends to the party offended and to assure you that you know they made a mistake, hurt or offended you.

I think that's the point. Sometimes they can't think straight and they want to hurt someone, but then when they actually see the action being done, they say sorry.

They say sorry because you may have had the chance to do what you wanted to do and that time ran out and they won't give you another chance since the only chance you had is gone.

The person must have been a little emotional and could not control himself and then asks for forgiveness because he has realised that he was wrong.
At least he knows that he is wrong and wont do it again.

We're all human and make mistakes-if an apology is sincere it compounds the problem not to accept it. It isn't meant to erase the mistake, but to start on making amends.

why will you say sorry to a person if you did nothing! right?
asking an apology to someone without any valid reason only makes you feel more sorry to yourself. it will only not look you a fool but sound more crazy. hehehe.
