"Tell a devout Christian ... that frozen yogurt can make a man invisible," Harris writes, "and he is likely to require as much evidence as anyone else, and to be persuaded only to the extent that you give it. Tell him that the book he keeps by his bed was written by an invisible deity who will punish him with fire for eternity if he fails to accept its every incredible claim about the universe, and he seems to require no evidence whatsoever."

For some Christians, yes. It's something I've been very frustrated by, even as a Christian myself. Nothing bugs me more than the Christians who answer my questions with, "Just have faith. You must be saved."
Well, I AM saved, Jesus Christ IS my Lord and Savior, but I STILL have issues with believing the entirety of the Bible. I also have some issues with believing in God, believe it or not. I question it, too, the same as any atheist or agnostic.
The ONLY difference between myself and most atheists and agnostics is that I ask God for guidance, instead of man. "God, please help me with my unbelief!" God created me the way I am: I am analytical (sometimes OVERLY analytical) and inquisitive. I want EVIDENCE, if not PROOF. I can't just take things on "faith." I envy the people who can.

Icarus, that last line is "...no evidence is required".

What most unbelievers fail to realize is that there is evidence. It is subjective, and it is spiritual, but it is real. It is what keeps us faithful even when we don't have answers to all the questions.

That evidence, that experience, that witness within us cannot be simply denied or dismissed. I would never expect anyone who does not have that evidence to understand, and I don't mean that in a patronizing way. But the notion that there is no evidence and only "blind faith" is wrong.

I would go for the yogurt making me invisible vs. the Bible claims.

Someone also said "For a fundamentalist Christian to believe in evolution, no evidence would be good enough. For him to believe in a god, no evidence is good enough"

(or words to that effect).

It's simply a flaw in human nature to believe what we wish to be true (or fear might be true) rather than what is logically justified.

It is futile to try to explain to people having schizoid delusional mental disorders what their delusions are.
Zyprexa (use only as directed, see a Doctor) can often treat them, then you can try rational thinking and explanations.

Dunno who said it, but it's true, and you know why? FEAR!
All religious and esoteric thought is totally unprovable, but if you frighten him, a man will believe anything - "just in case" it's true.
