Who gives a flip about being like SCOTLAND?

Scotland does have a closed season for Trout and Salmon fishing, but they are open for all other types as the Scots do not consider those as fish, they are not interested in any other tyres of fish to legislate.

Here in Florida you can fish whenever you want. There are certain species with closed seasons for spawning, but otherwise, as long as you're only keeping what's in season you're good... and you can usually find something that's in season. Seasons and size limits are there to insure that in the future, other responsible fisherpeople can still find and catch fish. I gladly release anything I shouldn't have.

All hunting and fishing should have closed periods so the animals have a chance at survival and reproduction

fishing would not be very fun if they were only 7 fish in the world....

here in TEXAS, fishing IS, a year round sport but, We do things differently here than You do up there in the UNITED STATES. as for having a closed season, that is what catch and, release, daily bag limits and, slot limits, are for. protecting the resource.

most certainly give them chance to breed, the state of some of the rivers is poor for fry this year
