My dad dated a nurse. Wound up happily married for almost 50 years (we kids better get to planning that upcoming fiftieth!), had kids and grandkids...

According to my husband:
you will have to endure her coming home late in the evening and spending at least an hour talking in bed about the most hideous, repulsive and grueome stories that she has had at work. This occurs on a daily basis.
You are expected to recall all these stories at any later date when she tells you further stories about the same condition or patient.
She will rant and rave about certain doctors who are inept and who make the wrong decisions.
She will then go on to complain about some of her colleagues who don't pull their weight or are lazy.
When you are so totally wide awake that you can't fall asleep - she will finally drop off to sleep and sleep deeply. Her alarm will wake you really early in the morning. Don't forget that she also maybe on call so that will also wake you.

On the up side: she will be really good if you are sick, can deal with vomiting and poop. Copes with blood with no problems (unless its her own) and is pretty handy with a bandaid. Isnt highly sympathetic but is very practical!

If you have any single friends she will have a variety of nurse friends that she can set them up with. There is usually a good social life attached to being a nurse - social outings, BBQ's and drinks.

It is also handy when she is able to advise you which doctor is the best and which to avoid. She will also have a good working knowledge of most diseases and syndromes and can offer some good guesses at diagnosis (albeit sometimes a little wrong!).

If all this doesn't help you know what it is like: ask her to wear one of those old fashioned nurse outfits and parade around your bedroom!!!

Well, since nurses come in males and females these days, its hard to answer your question from my perspective.
First, I'd guess you might get to play doctor....
After that, nurses work long hours. When he/she says they'd really rather just go home and not out to party after a long shift, respect their wishes. You would probably get a lot of extra points if you gave foot massages.
