The Irish prime minister has publicly condemned the war as it does not have UN backing. Actions however speak loader than words and allowing US military planes to refuel in Shannon violates Irish neutrality I believe.

Thorgirl is completely wrong about WW2, Ireland was technically neutral but definitely pro-Allie and not allow any German refueling. Tens of thousands of Irish men fought in the British army.

We're are neutral at present, though 'our smart leader' has allowed US military planes to land in Shannon. Being close to the Americans is not such a bad thing, however allowing war planes to land at Shannon isn't. They could land at RAF bases instead, who are allies in the War. What the hell do the Americans and British need in Iraq anyway. I would suggest getting out of Iraq/Afghanistan and letting those people look after themselves.

Our good Irish have not supported us. They chose to stay somewhat Neutral in WW2 ( although they let german planes and subs make stop overs) American Ships that were disabled were turned away in spite of safe harbor laws. they did not support us in any war. The IRA did show a lot of south American Commies how to shoot and Blow things up though. Since 60 million Americans declare some sort of Irish Heratige we have a poor understanding of the political side of our histories and tend to think it is all St Paddys day and Green beer.
