Who the hell started this business of giving The Heart credit for having emotions?
Surely, The Brain, and The Five Senses, are what give you 'Feelings'. Good and Bad.
The Heart can only transmit feelings of Pain. And that's when it is unhealthy, or injured, surely?
The Gut has 'feelings' because it has a primitive Brain in it's lining. According to recent scientific experiments......
But I must admit that saying "I love you darling, with all my Gut"
isn't very romantic! What do you think ??

True. But the heart is the single most important pump in the body, because it feeds all the necessary other vital body parts/organs. Without it, blood is not carried, therefore those areas that don't receive the blood die.
The gut, just handles food processing, breakdown, & waste removal.... nothing more. It doesn't send blood anywhere, rather it requires blood to function properly. Most injuries to the abdomen area are fatal, because the waste the gut was processing gets thrown all over..... contaminating & infecting your insides. Your heart is the strongest muscle for a reason,
if it weren't.... how could you ever survive all the heartaches your sure to endure throughout your lifetime.

I think it was some ancient Greek who started the heart business.
But i suppose a heart shape on a card etc is cuter than a large intestine!

The "heart" of something, means the very core... the center...
So, when we love someone with all of our heart, it means we love them with all of our innermost self.

Now then, the organ to which you refer is not a heart at all, really. It is the cardiac muscle... it is in the center of our chest... more or less, and is "central" to our life, hence the term "heart" being used for the cardiac muscle...

Now, as to whether it's a "bloomin' " pump... I have to say, that THAT sounds fatal... having ANYTHING blooming out of your cardiac muscle...

It was believed in historical times that your heart contained your soul. When you feel emotion you feel it in your chest and belly. So its quite easy to understand and actually experience. Obviously you have no love in your life... you sad loser
