They're crazy, but they're also dangerous, and that's not a mixture that equals a good combination. Look back in history and there are quite a few examples.

What could possibly be worse than this message?

"Soon the whole world will have heard of Westboro Baptist Church and the unwavering message of Her little flock of slaughter. We have preached for nearly 16 years now on the mean streets of America, seeking doors of utterance to cross international boundaries so we might preach the doom of idolatrous Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Now, God Almighty, in His due time, has opened just such a door. You will have no excuse once the BBC and Channel 4 release their pieces on the WBC. No matter what perverted light they display us in, you will receive the message. God Hates Fags. God Hates You. The World is Doomed. This very well may be the last warning this doomed mass of mankind will receive before Christ returns in fire and glory to punish you. Whether you will hear it, or whether you will forbear, it is of no consequence to us. You have been warned."

Weren't they the same people that would go to soldier's funerals and yell, "Thank God for dead soldiers?"
Stupid fools. They put one woman on the news about this and she was so creepy. She had this crazed look in her eyes.
We need to be careful about them, because what if they decide that it's God's will for them to help him destroy America?

I'm trying not to let the bile rise so late at night, so if that is a Fred Phelps site, the man is a certified nut, a disbarred lawyer, and a hateful person who does more harm to Christianity than a thousand Madalyn Murray O'Hairs could hope to do.

ETA for decaffeinated clarity: He does not represent Christianity, of course, nor do I as a non-Christian consider him to do so. No matter how much he likes to cloak himself in Christian terms, ol' Fred needs to crack open the Bible to a few pages besides Leviticus. They seem to be the only ones he's read.

i'm not mad about sweden though....
seriously just like what louis said the worst victims of the piece were the children. you could tell the way that young woman laughed nervously that she was uncomfortable with a lot of what she was saying. not being able to go for coffee? wtf?
but i don't think the word evil is useful at all.... so someone's evil... the 8 year old? the 20 year old? how does that bring us to any greater understanding of them?
in my opinion. we have a psychotic patriarch and good old human weakness - combined with a world that's so disturbing it leads to whole populations going mad (witness the southern states of the US). wonderful world we live in.

A show about that church was on tv last night. I'm an American living in England and as I watched it with 3 British citizens, I was so ashamed that there were actually people who called themselves Christians living their lives purely to spread hate in America. I suppose there are evil people though all over the world with similar ideas and teachings...we just don't hear about them all.

I cried. It saddens me so much to see those people twisting the Word of God so much and using it to justify their own anger.

That's what is at the core of that church: anger

But, God is bigger than that church and even people like them can be forgiven and changed. After my hour of sorting through my feelings of wanting them dead, I realized those kinds of thoughts were just as bad as their desire to hurt others and so I just prayed for them instead.

That's all we can do.

An evil man is behind this dreadful site. Check out Louis Theroux's latest TV programme - it's all about them.

It was funny watching Louis Theroux taking the piss out of them. It's interesting just how whacked out these cretins are.

However, what bothers me most is that we don't see this preacher of hatred being whisked off to Guantanamo bay for 'questioning' considering that he has spread more hate than 90% of the prisoners currently incarcerated there.

They are so nasty. I watched a bit of last nights show, but I missed some. I saw them waving their placards and thought "How Evil". I hope that is not how true Christians think.

That's not religion, or Christianity. That is a certifiable nut case with way too much influence.
