Ok another question for ya. Can a person who has "lost thier salvation" still be saved. Lets say a backsliden Christian...he gone back to his old ways old sins old habbits...is he still lost even after he has repented and asked for Gods forgiveness?

So John if what you are saying is correct then the backsliden Christian mise well just give up and die? A person who has gone back to thier old ways...old sins...old habbits...can't repent and be forgiven?

I'm kind of getting some mixed answers here. Although I appreciate you all and thank you for your time....but I'm going to simplify this a little. Can a Christian who has turned their back on God..ever repent and be forgiven? I've never believed in "once saved always saved" but I also never believed in "once lost lost forever" either.

Yes, you can still lose the initial grace of salvation granted by Christ when you confessed your sins and accepted him as your Lord and saviour.

Faith justifies initially, but works perfect and complete our salvation. If all it takes to be saved is "to confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead" (Romans 10,9) then why must I change? Oh sure, I should change my sinful ways. I should try to please God. But if I don't does it really matter? My salvation is assured?

Salvation is a process of perseverance through faith, hope and love. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that one is justified or saved by "faith alone." On the contrary, man is not justified by faith alone. A person is justified by faith and works acting together, which comes solely from God's divine grace. Faith alone never obtains the grace of justification. Also, the word "justified" is the same word Paul uses for justification in Romans 4,3 in regard to Abraham (so Protestants cannot argue James is not referring to "justification" in James 2,24 unless they argue Paul wasn't either in Romans 4,3).

Peace and every blessing!

Can Salvation be lost? - Yes.
Can it be regained? - Yes.

If I write out ALL the verses, this will be FOREVER long!
...So here's a few verses of the study:
Jesus said He was the vine and we were the branches - without maintaining connection to Him, we would be removed. John 15:1-1
Verses of this happening: Matthew 3:10; 15:13; 21:19; Luke 13:7-9
Paul spoke of how we are grafted into the family of God, using an illustration of the olive tree: Romans 11:11,16-24 with the warning that we can lose our salvation in verse 21

Rom 11:20 That's true enough. But they were cut away because they did not have faith, and you are where you are because you do have faith. So don't be proud, but be afraid.
Rom 11:21 If God cut away those natural branches, couldn't He do the same to you?

Is there mercy for the backslidden? **YES!**

Luke 13:6-9 Jesus then told them this story: A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard. One day he went out to pick some figs, but he didn't find any.
So he said to the gardener, "For three years I have come looking for figs on this tree, and I haven't found any yet. Chop it down! Why should it take up space?"
The gardener answered, "Master, leave it for another year. I'll dig around it and put some manure on it to make it grow.
Maybe it will have figs on it next year. If it doesn't, you can have it cut down."

He gives us TIME to get straightened out.

There are boatloads of more passages -
God giving up and giving them over to the corrupt mind - Romans 1:28-32
The fruits of this corruption... Galatians 5:18-21
Paul saying to cast out the backslidden who refuses to return to Christ... 1st Corinthians 5 (all)

There are instructions to go to the backslidden and try to win him back to God... Ezekiel 3:16-21; Galatians 6:1-5; Luke 17:3-4; Jude vs 22-23; Hebrews 12:14-15 and 25; Titus 3:8-11...

It all boils down to:
Choose this day, whom you will serve.

We have time to return to Christ and become all that Galatians 5:22-26 describes... but who knows how long? Jesus told us to forgive each other 70x7 - how many more times, then will He forgive us? The scripture says EVERY TIME WE ASK HIM TO.
We should not delay, however ...There could always be that proverbial bus waiting to mow us down - looming in our future....

I hope this helps.
Peace dear one.

One cannot become a Christian, then fall back into sin, and expect God to except them into heaven. The Word of God does not follow the same perspective as some people in the world on the subject of losing their salvation. Hebrews 6:4-6 speaks of one who has tasted the heavenly gift and has fallen away. Its says that these people crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. Someone who does this is not worthy of the kingdom of God.

Jesus has a lot to say about Christians drifting away. In Matthew 24:10 Jesus speaks of the tribulation that will come on the world near the end of time. He says, "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another." Two verses later he speaks of people's love growing cold. Jesus knows that troubles and trials will cause many Christians to leave the faith. On the other hand, verse 13 states, "the one who endures to the end, he will be saved." Only continued service to the Lord can retain salvation.

YES!!!.........If after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior into your life and being born of the Holy Spirit, you turn and reject God and all that you have come to know as the truth and you continue to live a life of sin with no intention of ever repenting, God will harden your heart with no chance of returning, and you will perish in the Lake of Fire. That is the only unpardonable sin and what is known as the "second death"; You have "blasphemed" the Holy Spirit and you will have full knowledge of your imminent fate before it happens. Even if you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ into your life as Lord and Savior, If you have heard the Word of God and have come to understand what it takes for your salvation, but you still reject God and refuse to fully and sincerely repent of your sins because you still love the world more than God the Father.......you have sealed your fate also and you will surly perish as your soul is cast into the the Lake of Fire and consumed.

Drake is correct but the Good News is that you can be saved again by accepting Christ and repenting of your sins. God knows that we are going to screw up, and that is why He sent us His only son to die on the cross for us. God believes in second chances. I know from experience.

I don't think salvation can be lost (as in lost and found) as much as consciously given up by going apostate. Consider the Amplified Bible that says about Hebrews 6:

"For it is impossible [to restore and bring again to repentance] those who have been once for all enlightened, who have consciously tasted the heavenly gift and have become sharers of the Holy Spirit, And have felt how good the Word of God is and the mighty powers of the age and world to come, If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance--[it is impossible] to bring them back to repentance, for (because, while, as long as) they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh [as far as they are concerned] and are holding [Him] up to contempt and shame and public disgrace. For the soil which has drunk the rain that repeatedly falls upon it and produces vegetation useful to those for whose benefit it is cultivated partakes of a blessing from God. But if [that same soil] persistently bears thorns and thistles, it is considered worthless and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned."

The writer is talking about a persistence in sinning that renders one in danger of hell fire. Christians are to persevere in the faith, rather than to persist in sinning. Those who persevere till the end will be saved, but those who persists in sinning till the end will not be saved.

Yes!.
The apostle Paul said so.
(2 Corinthians 13:5) Keep testing whether YOU are in the faith, keep proving what YOU yourselves are. Or do YOU not recognize that Jesus Christ is in union with YOU? Unless YOU are disapproved.

Once saved is NOT always saved,
