Where I'm from, anyone on probation must contact their probation officer if they have ANY contact with law enforcement, even if it is as simple as being a witness to a car accident. It would be better for your son to let his probation officer know about from him first, opposed to letting him find out through someone else. Have your son own up to his mistake and take responsibility for it.

Yes...besides if he doesnt and the PO finds out before him, then he's in more trouble. A traffic ticket doesnt usually effect probation, However, if its a criminal court ticket, like for pot possession, that could be a problem. But either way, yes, he must tell the PO....sometimes they can also be a help as well.

Thats a sticky question. Being in another county is usually grounds for VOP, that would be the concern, not the fact of the ticket per se.
A traffic ticket is of no consequence unless it be for DUI or some other severe situation. I notice you did not elaborate upon that.
If your son had a Public Defender that is something you may want to ask him or her about.

Yes. I don't know all the rules of probation and such, but I would definitely say he should. It would be better coming from him directly, than from a report sent from the other county. Take care.

while on probation you are supposed to notify p.o. asap, of any police contact...even if its just the police questioning you about something. Doesn't neccessarily mean you'll get in trouble. but its best he hears it from son than from a police report. And the p.o. will find out.

While on probation you are
required to notify your PO,
if you even come into contact
with the police. It is a violation
of your probation.

I don't know whether he HAS to or not, but I think it would be a good idea. It is always better to be pro-active! If it is just a moving violation, I don't see where that would be a huge violation against the terms of his probation!

what did he do. I dont know. **ahem** I dont know that your son would appreciate you talking publicly about him. Me I wouldnt care how "concerned" you are. Unless you paid to put me through college so I wouldnt be stuck with an adulthood of soulnumbing poverty and minimum wage jobs.
