I use a combination of Effexor XR and Buspar for depression and anxiety (panic attacks). Has brought my panic attacks from several a day to a couple (not full-blown) a month.

I was on paxil for the same reason at one time aswell, however i was not aware that weight gain was a side effect .perhaps, the gaining is due to the fact that you are more relaxed .perhaps water retention.if you have just begun taking them, maybe after a while everything will return to its former being.from my experience suffering with panic attaks paxil was the only thing that worked that was not habit forming.with that said never stop taking them abruptly,i did that-big mistake!now i do not need them or anything else.my panic attacks are gone.if your feeling better maybe a little weight gain is worth it.good luck.

For panic attacks you should be on Xanax, not Paxil. But, for an antidepressant, try Wellbutrin. It does not cause weight gain and you will also get your sex drive back! Paxil is the worst one. Go talk to your dr, though, because you should NOT take anti-d's for panic.

i have severe anxiety and depression and i take lexapro and klonopin and niether one has caused me to gain any weight and i have been on them for a while. I f anything my appetitie has decreased. Paxil when i took ti just either made me want to sleep all the time or be awake all the time. So talk to your doctor and see what he/she says. I swear by my lexapro. however one thing is the first day i took i did have a panic attack but i think that was the anxiety due to taking something new. hope this helps.

I used to suffer from anxiety attacks but that stopped when I stared taking 20mg Celexa. Low dosage of that works great from me. I have not had one attack and have been taking it for over 6 mo.

The internet isn't the place to get ideas on what meds you should take.
If you're having trouble with the side affects of your medication, then talk to your physician.
All medication affects everyone differently. What works for one person will not work for another.
