Don't wait - but don't ask him out on a date.
Spend time with him to console him.
Ask him out for coffee if you are of an appropriate age for that.

Couple of days is pretty short time.
If you are looking to be a long time gf not the rebound girl then you ought to wait a little while. At least 3 weeks, but be available to him as a friend in the mean time.

It really all depends on how long his relationship was with his old girlfriend if it was like a year relationship i would give it at least a month but if it wasnt very long i wouldnt wait go for it just use your own judgement
