I cant bring both, its going to be awkward having a digital SLR camera in a club as it is.

well the camera sets the speed of the lense, not the actual lense.
the first one just means its a regular lense and the second one is a zoom lense

Neither lens is what I would call fast...but between the two, the 18-55mm lens is faster than the other...with a starting aperture of f/3.5 versus f/4.5 on the other lens.

If you have no luck, then your best bet is to buy a faster lens of f/2.8, f/1.8 etc.).
A fast prime lens could be a good inexpensive option for low light work. (check out the 85mm f/1.8 or other faster lenses).

Don't forget to raise your ISO.
good luck...

The 18-55 If These Are the Only Choices. If You Have One, Use The "Fastest" (The One With The Largest f-Stop) Lens You Have. Is It Film Or Digital?

It would be helpful if you would tell how fast the lens are.
