You asked: "If the Indians allied with Mexico would the U.S. lose the war? "

No,
First of all the Mexicans were worse on Native Americans than the US, if you can believe that.

Secondly, in 1847 most native American tribes were completely disorganized.

The Native American tribe that was perhaps the most skilled at warfare at the time was the Commanches. The Texans by themselves almost completely destroyed the Commanche's. The Commanches by the way could have been considered the best light calvary in the world at the time. They were decimated by military and police organizations within Texas, particularly the Texas Rangers.

The Apache's were very skilled individual warriors. However they only worked in small groups, and never large organized manuver elements. In small groups or one on one they were fierce fighters. Unfortunately they lacked the skills needed to take on a professional army.

I think if the Mexican army did manage to get any Native Americans to fight with them they would have been used as scouts, if they got used at all. The Mexican army didnt really seem to be all that organized itself.

What you should be asking is what would have happened if every native American tribe in the continental US put their differences aside and joined together to fight the US expansion.

Let's not. One can never go back. It is pointless. Rather look at what is and how we got here, and where we are going. Right now the U.S. is losing the war against the leftist forces from within. It won't be long at this rate before we collapse or are taken over.

Native-Americans (which I am one) had as many problems with Mexico as they did with America.

Just look at what happened with so many tribes during the French and Indian wars and the American Revolution. We were constantly making agreements and getting betrayed, and switching alliances.

You think the Indians liked the Mexicans any better than they liked us? Cortez would have been happy to hear that.

No, it would have made no difference.
