We have a nice van we're still making payments on. Is it cheaper overall to just rent a car for about $150 for the week? It would be like a Taurus or Impala, not bad. Thanks.

If nothing is wrong with your car then why not use it? Did you buy it to look at it or drive?

Besides the initial rental cost of $150. you also have to pay for the mileage. I would find out about that from the rental agency.

Since gasoline prices are on the rise you might want to put your trip off for awhile.

If you do take the trip always fill the vehicle up before you return it as they really charge a high price for the fill up if you don't do it.

The best thing to would be to go ahead and rent a car. If your taking you own can, then your just adding mileage on it that may come back and cause problems later down the road.
Besides, if you happen to get into an accident or something were to happen, then your Renter's Insurance would have you covered.

Why do people do this? I don't get it..you don't have a car just to put it in the driveway...I agree with the first guy. A car is a car. It's made for USE. 1,000 miles is hardly going to break the car.

On average, a car costs about $0.39-$0.59 and higher to drive. (This includes cost of maintenance, depreciation, gas, insurance, and everything else that comes with owning a car.) So, economically speaking, it would be in your best interest to rent the car so you don't add wear and tear onto your own car.

I would get the damage liability waiver if offered by your rental insurance company if I were you.
