Ibuprofen or naproxen. Both are available over the counter. If you need something stronger then you would need to see a doc.

It depends on what type of pain and the severity. If it's muscular pain, Ibuprofen is the best. If it's a headache, usually Excedrin is the best OTC drug. If it's severe pain brought on by an injury, it'll require something a little stronger like Vicodin or even Oxycontin if it's really severe. However, you really don't want to go for Vicodin or Oxycontin unless it's a very severe pain because these are both highly addictive medications.

You didn't say where your pain is. What I do is I take some pills like tylenol or aleve. The after about 30 minutes If I still hurt, I go run the tub full of warm water and sit in the tub while the tub is filling so I get the temperature just right.
When you get out put on clean pajamas and go to bed.
One more note though is that if your pain is so bad you are starting to hold your breath then go to the ER.

The best thing for pain is to diagnose and treat the CAUSE of that pain.

Ibuprofin. It seems to work the best for pain. You can take 800mg up to three to four times daily. Ice packs, and long warm baths

uh, could you be any more vague?

sure, tylenol may work for a mild headache...but if you are dying of cancer some strong opiates are in order

also, everyone reacts differently to drugs and everyone has different pain level tolerances
