Got my kitten spayed Friday. She is 6 months old--our vet won't spay any earlier. How long does it take to recover? The vet kept her overnight. I picked her up the next morning.
She slept all day when I picked her up Saturday, and is still laying around. She seems to be eating and drinking ok. Not as much her usual though. She seems to be kind of upset and not wanting to be very social and basically hiding from us. She only comes out to eat. How long will it be before she is back to her usual sunny self?

It should take her about a week to be her normal self. However, keep in mind that she'll be fully recovered in about 3-4 weeks. Mine was pretty active the day after and I was the one who wanted her to take it easy as my vet recommended that I keep her from jumping on top. But it seems like your kitty is doing okay if she's eating and drinking. If she isn't her usual self in about a week I would follow up with the vet. Your vet usually follows up with you to see how she's doing. Take that opportunity to ask questions to ease your anxiety. Check her stitching to make sure it's not infected. Before you know it she'll be herself again. (o= Hope your kitty has a speedy recovery.

Sounds like she is doing fine especially if she is eating and drinking. She's a bit stressed still and that's why she's hiding. I think in a few days she should start venturing out. It won't be foreveer. Some cats are very stressed from an overnight vet visit. I used to have one that was.

It will take probably 6-7 days. Remember, she had the cat version of a hysterectomy! So she will probably not want to run around much, and because of pain most likely won't eat as much, but it won't take her long to be up and attem!

She is young. I'd say within a week she'll be running around and playing and being her old self. She did just go threw major surgery you know. She will need to rest up for a few days she knows what she is doing.

She should be fine in a few days. Mine was and she was an itty bitty thing. She still only weighs 6.5 pounds.

Give her a week. She has had quite the traumatic experience and will soon forget and become social again.
