Affan... I am a woman, so naturally, I hate the ahadith that speak so vile about my sex, and I especially disdain Qu'ran 4:34. (the whole manuscript). Beat women? Admonish them? What, are women puppies to be housebroken or something? Please, enlighten me. maybe I am wrong but I doubt it.

Well, no, I wouldn't say it's wrong. Maybe you just don't like those methods of worshiping God, or you don't relate to the teachings or something.

But I think you should realize that there are those for whom these teachings and practices are very effective and beneficial, and I think this ought to be respected.

Furthermore, if you feel that the religion has immoral portions, then you are entitled to dislike it. However, it is very important that in addition to studying the religion via books, you also "study" it via people. In other words, get to know some Muslims. I think you will have a hard time disliking them, if you get to know them. I have met many great Muslim people on here and through my Yahoo 360 page, and they are quite likable, peace-loving, and highly moral people.

Hello-

You can dislike anything you want.

However, if you dislike something like Islam or Christianity you ought to ask yourself why, and futher investigate that subject. For instance disliking Muslims because they are such is not good enough. Objectively read the Quran, read about Islamic history, jurisprudence etc before "disliking" something. In other words have an open mind free from ignorance.

God says in the Quran that he will open the hearts of believers and make the path to Islam easy for them. He will reward them with making the verses(ayats) clear to them. Only those that have ill intent or disbelief will not be shown the clear and wonderful words and meaning in the ayats. People, even muslims, that interpret any sort of harm, or injury against anyone, muslim or non muslim, using ayats in the Quran are not being shown the way by God but using their own selfish thinking to create a meaning that they prefer. God uses the word "justice' in the Quran over 50 times....thats how important it is to him that we treat each other fairly and with justice.

You are not forced like or believe in any particular religion....no compulsion and all that....but its always nice to read and discover for yourself the true teachings and not just what some of the followers present as the truth. Islam is good.....many many muslims are not. so sad.

I really like Affan's answer. Islam the religion is fine. I don't subscribe to it and never will...the religion helps people be better. I think that the problem with Islam is the politization of it. Personally, I think that this destroys its crediblity as a world religion. It is not meet that we force beliefs upon those who have differing views.

You have the right to dislike Islam and I don't a have problem with it. Even in the Quran it states 2:256 "Let there be no compulsion in religion...". Although it is wrong to spread hate and lies about Islam as many people on R&S do!

I would like to know though what you dislike about Islam because a lot of people i have talked to didn't like Islam for wrong reasons and when i explained to them their attitude towards Islam changed.

well if that is what you came up with from actual knowledge of the religion, them its ok to dislike something, but its not ok to hate it outright. personally I am an athiest, and I have no problems with Muslims, I know some personally and I think they are good people. they only problem is the people that make it seem bad, like the extremists that actually do not believe in the true islam, but if you think about it, probrably %99.99 of the muslims in the world have no hatefull intent twards others, just the %.01 make the rest of them look bad.

all the poeple that believe that their way is the ONLY way are fools, since they support brainwashing, since it basically takes brainwashing to make everyone believe that.

No you are not wrong to dislike Islam. But if you dislike Islam you do not disturb the islamic followers. You are free to choose your own religion. In islamic teaching there is no force.Your religion is yours and my religion is mine.Your God is yours and my God is mine.I do not pray to your God and you do not pray to my God.This principle is spoken in the holy Qur'an..
Disliking Islam but do not hating Islam and then you insulted or accused muslims without factual reason..Islam is a peaceful religion. We do not want to hurt or insult any other religion followers. But the other religion followers we hope would respect us too.We are not offensive but we are deffensive.
Islam is spread out with love, help and egality among us without racism.Islam gives more respect to women.

No...God hates religion."... So can you! Islam worships the moon God..They always use the moon symbol...

"I have had enough of burnt offerings...Bring your worthless offerings no longer...I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts; they have become a burden to Me... So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you... I will not listen..." (Isaiah 1:10-15)

"I hate, I reject your festivals; nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies...take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps." (Amos 5:21-24)

These passages bear out the fact that God hates religion, and all of its procedures and programs; rituals and regulations.

It's wrong to take any *huge swath* of humanity (or not so huge) and simply dislike the whole lot. Can you spell b-i-g-o-t?
You're saying that, upon meeting a Muslim for the 1st time, you will not be neutral to him/her - that's to both your detriments.

And no, it may not be *raging bigoted*, but it is still unfair.
